Chapter 10

Y/n's POV

"I can't trust anything you say." Big brother said, looking at Melty. Melty looked at big brother, stunned to hear that from him. "Get lost." Big brother demanded. 

"Please wait, you have to hear me out." Melty begged. Big brother sat back down on the barrel he was resting on a second ago while crossing his arms. "I don't have to listen to a damn word that comes out of the royal family's filthy mouths. Neither does Y/n." Big brother said. The door to the shop opened as a knight stepped in. "Princess Melty, his royal majesty calls. Please come with us." The knight said. Melty turned and looked at him before turning back to us. I noticed she was shaking before speaking up. "Very well I'll go. I have to leave now, Filo." Melty said, turning to Filo. Once she said goodbye to Filo, Melty turned and left the shop. "Wait, Mel!" Filo started.

"Filo. No, don't." Big brother said. Big sis walked over and rested her hand on Filo's head, both of them looking a little sad about what was going on. While we were sitting there, big brother pulled up his status menu and started looking through his stats. "Why couldn't you have given her a chance to at least explain herself?" Big sis asked, looking at big brother. I looked away from everyone, understanding why big brother didn't want to talk with her. "You know she's got a point, kid. What about you Y/n? Don't you think you should've heard her out?" Erhard asked. 

"Well..." I started. 

"Hey master, I don't understand. How could you treat Mel so coldly? Why? Tell me why. Please." Filo begged, interrupting me. She walked over to big brother clearly upset that she couldn't play with Mel anymore. "Listen to me, Filo. It's not a good idea to play with Melty any more." Big brother said. He patted her head before standing up. "What?" Filo asked.

"Master Naofumi speaking to her like a father isn't going to help her understand things any better." Big sis pointed out. Big brother just turned away from them. "Why, master? Why? Mel hasn't done anything wrong. Please tell me why I can't play with her anymore. Please." Filo begged. She stepped in front of him, blocking his path, hoping to get a good answer from big brother. Big brother just stepped past her, opening the curtain to the back of the shop. Filo had tears forming in her eyes before rushing out of the store. I looked at big brother seeing his grip tighten on the curtain. I could tell that even he was upset about what was going on. "Master Naofumi, is this about Mel being the daughter of the king?" Big sis asked. I heard his breath shake as he heard big sis ask that before seeing his grip tighten more on the curtain. Something about the way he was acting had me guessing that he didn't want to trust anyone in the royal family, which I understood. The door to Erhard's shop opened as I turned to see Filo looking inside. "Excuse me, master." Filo said, nervously. 

"Quit skulking around and just come inside." Big brother said. Filo smiled before stepping into the shop more. "You have visitors." Filo said. The knight from before that was chasing us around when we left the church stepped into the shop. "I apologize." The knight said.

"It's you again. What the hell do you want?" Big brother asked. I turned and looked at him, a little upset that he was being rude. "Uh... Well uh we actually I uh... Please let us accompany you Shield Hero and you as well cursed hero, at least during the waves." The knight asked. They all bowed towards us, which I turned back to see. We looked at them, stunned by their request. "Your courage and selflessness deeply touched us when you fought during the last wave. Everyone here wants nothing more than to support you on your tireless quest." The knight explained.

"That's why you were chasing us around trying to talk with us, wasn't it?" I asked.

"Yes, we all decided that we should ask to fight side by side with you the next time we saw you here in the capital." The knight explained.
