Starscream was called in the throne room, by Megatron himself nonetheless, and he hoped it wasn't for a beating, his frame was now used not to be a mere punching bag.
Instead, he found the entire room empty, excluding Megatron, sitting on his throne, a servo over his optics.

When the Seeker walked in, the Warlord looked up and stared at him with a deadly expression, something was very wrong. Starscream hated when the bigger bot just looked at him, silent. Yelling was much better than rageful silence, that made the Warlord at least ten times scarier.

Although, Megatron just signed him to come closer, and the Seeker did, standing at a safe distance from the larger bot.

Megatron: "I have horrible news."

Starscream: "Your carrier wants a grandchild? I ain't getting Sparked with you."

Said Starscream, almost ironically, but both the Warlord and him knew it was sarcasm. They looked at each other for a good five minutes before the Warlord spoke up.

Megatron: "I told my mother I want to ask you to... sparkbond with me, be my conjux."

Silence took control of the room, on Starscream's side this time. The Seeker was dumbfounded, shocked, and mostly, panicked.

Starscream: "W-WHAT!? WE CAN'T DO THAT! IT'S SOMETHING TOO IMPORTANT FOR THIS STUPID LIE!"

The Warlord knew Starscream was right, it was too much to ask, too high of a risk for too little of a reward.
The bigger bot felt a familiar pressure in his spark, and somehow, he managed to keep his tone and not let himself look weak in front of his second.

Megatron: "Yes, I know it is..."

He sighed, considering to press on something he didn't even know if Starscream had: compassion.

Megatron: "I just... I don't want to disappoint her..."

He looked down, his servos squeezing around his own arms, trembling a bit. Starscream wasn't the only one able to lie with surprising effects.

Megatron: "...I already ruined her life by existing... I just want to make her as proud as I can..."

The Warlord waited a moment to look back up at his Second, he was ashamed of showing some vulnerability, but what he said was true. Before he looked at him, Starscream sighed and sat down on the floor, right beside Megatron's stabilizer with his backstruts against the throne.

Starscream: "Looks like we're on the same boat."

They indirectly looked at each other for a second, and the Warlord could swear to have seen a tear on Starscream's cheek plate before he turned to the other side.

Starscream: "I'm not so selfish and insensitive as you might fairly believe, my liege... you're trying to press on my compassion, even if you think I don't have one..."

Megatron looked at his second with surprise, but the Seeker ignored it and kept talking.

Starscream: "I don't really need to keep myself for someone else, so if you really need to make your carrier proud, I'll, willingly, sparkbond with you... I know what it feels like, being nothing but a disappointment for the ones that gave you life, I get it..."

With that, the Seeker got up and left. Was that a yes? Probably, the reason? Megatron absolutely didn't know, he wasn't even sure if that was actually Starscream or someone else disguised as him.

One this was sure.
He had to know what Starscream meant.
