Will broken hearts find their way back to each other?

Lucy's POV:

I would say it's been around a week now. Keira is settled in the hotel with me, she's only been back a few days. But all seems to be going well.

I've even had my cast off, finally! So now I've got this slightly more flexible one, which is great timing to help Keira out. Luckily, she seems to be doing well. I'm getting her to eat, drink and move around. She seems in good spirits.

All though, I am giving her space but every time I relate back to that call, she moves topics quickly or shouts at me. So.. I am just giving her space. She needs it.

The girls are also doing well, winning their matches which is a great start. When Keira gets her fitness up a bit more hopefully we can go to some games.

Anyways, today we are going to go to the park whilst the girls are training. Slightly later Keira and I have to go in for rehab so I'm sure she won't want to do it but I'll drag her in.

"Kei? You ready to go?" I shout from the other room.

"Yeah, yeah. One sec!" She replies

She has been slightly different with me ever since.. you know.. but I'm sure she's just recovering. And she hasn't seen Laura either, she refuses to see her at the moment. Don't know why, and I'm not going to ask why.

"Earth to Lucy?" Keira giggles.

I jump out of my thoughts and back into reality.

"Oh shit. Sorry. Are you ready to go?"

"Yes come on, don't want you wandering in your thoughts any longer." She laughs.

"Hm? How do you know what it was about..." I wink.

"Oh stop it." Keira smirks and smacks me playfully in the arm. I just giggle.

We both walk to the park, and grab an ice cream along the way. Yes we are footballers but we do deserve treats sometimes.

"I think I'm going back to training later.." I say softly.

"You are?" She questions, raising her eyebrows.

"Yeah. No contact yet or anything. Just a bit of running to get my legs moving. Hopefully I can make some games towards the end of the tournament if we make it that far."

"Oh. Yeah. Yeah. Of course. I'm happy for you." She softly smiles.

I know she probably won't like that I'm going back, but it will only be for a couple of hours. I am going to do my best to be with her as much of her recovery as possible.

"I'm sorry Kei, I wish I could be with you as much as possible, but I need to start working my way back... maybe you can come tonight too?" I say shyly.

"Lucy.. of course you do. And yeah, maybe I will." She smiles.

"Okay, thank you. Please let me know if anything is on your mind, okay?" I stop and turn to face her.

She turns towards me, giving me a soft smile.

"I promise."

We continue to walk, the low sun glistening in the sky, the rustle of the leaves echoing through the pathway. I've finished my ice cream, Keira hasn't.

"You ready for training later baby?" I ask.

"What?" Keira looks to me in shock. However, there is a slight, slight, slight smile in the corner of her lips.

"Oh...um..sorry. Habit I guess." I nervously chuckle.

"No worries. But yeah, I think I am ready. Just take it easy you know and we can do it together." She smiles.

"Yeah we can."
