-Chapter 40-

Aiden POV

She doesn't remember. She doesn't remember. She doesn't remember.

Partial Amnesia

Her big, doe, brown eyes are wide as she examines everyone in the room. She takes deep breaths.

I follow her. I need air. I need air in my lungs. I need to breathe.

She was on the bed while everyone started shouting and she closes her eyes and fists the blanket on the hospital bed, her nose wrinkled and her face looks like its in pain.

"HUSH!" Mini shouts as I hiss, "Shut up!

"Would you like water?" I whisper. I think I asked it before? I don't know.

"No, thank you." Aru rasps which leads Mini to shove a glass of water to Aru anyways.

Aru looks at the glass in Mini's hand for a minute or so before actually taking it. But she doesn't drink it.

"I'm sorry." Aru whispers and everyone starts losing it then.

"It's not your fault!" is a common sentence thrown around in the heated cries.

Aru winced as the shouts got louder and Brynne, Nikita and Kara went to get the doctor and Annan followed them. Anish and Aahan looked at each other. Anish shrugged and Aahan followed them too. So I think it's a secret language which basically is 'Annan go, Anish stay'

The doctor came and insisted everyone except Kara leave as she is supposed to rest on the bed next to Aru's.

Kara was frantic to stay in the room so she immediately jumped into her hospital bed and the rest of us were ushered out.

The doctor promised to let us in after 5 minutes as he needed to do check-ups so everyone was either pacing or fiddling.

"This is agonizing!" Nikita groans. But there was an undercurrent in her tone. Fear. Its in everyone's body language too. Look at the psychologist I have become. A few months ago I was insulting my psychology skills.

I let out a bitter laugh. Everyone stared at me as I muttered an incoherent "Sorry."

"Right, uh, you know, often, amnesia can be cured by triggers. We still don't know if her partial amnesia is only of recent memories or it has a pattern." Anish said.

"Really?" Sheela said the same time Brynne asked " How do you know?"

"Books. Noun. One syllable.  Instrument that record, analyze, summarize, organize, debate and explain information that are illustrative, non illustrative, hard bound paper bag jacketed, non jacketed, with forward introduction table of contents, index that are intended for the enlightenment, understanding, enrichment, enhancement and education of the human brain through sensory route of vision....some times touched"

Aahan snorted, "I can believe you actually by-hearted that."

Sheela stifled a smile and even Nikita's mouth was twitching. Mini slapped a hand over her mouth and I could feel my own mouth turning upward.

"What!? I don't get it!" Rudy said as Brynne demanded, "Am I missing something?"

"It's from a movie. The 3-idiots. I can't believe you didn't watch it." Mini explained, "Aru would have-"

The room went silent.

"Yes. She would have." Sheela said, quietly.

"You know, Anish by-hearted the whole thing just cause he lost a dare with me?" Aahan mused, "It's quite funny what one can do to fulfill a bet for something as simple as-"
