-3rd Person-
The night is thick with silence, broken only by the soft rustle of leaves outside the hospital window. The room is dimly lit, casting long shadows on the walls. Yui lies in the hospital bed, staring at the ceiling, her thoughts a tangled web of fear and confusion. The events of the past few days weigh heavily on her, the memories of the blood-soaked room still fresh in her mind.
A faint knock on the door startles her. Before she can respond, the door creaks open, and two elders step inside, their faces grave and unreadable. Yui recognizes them immediately—Homura Mitokado, a tall man with graying hair and a stern expression, and Koharu Utatane, a woman with sharp features and piercing eyes.
"Yui," Homura begins, his voice calm but laced with authority. "We need to talk."
Yui sits up slowly, her heart pounding in her chest. She knows this isn't a friendly visit. The air is thick with tension, and she can sense the unease in the room.
Koharu steps forward, her eyes narrowing as she studies Yui. "We're concerned about the safety of the village," she says bluntly.
"Your powers... they're dangerous."
Yui's eyes flicker with a mix of fear and defiance. She's heard this before, the whispered conversations when they thought she wasn't listening. But hearing it directly, in the middle of the night, sends a chill down her spine.
"We've come to a decision," Homura adds, his voice softer but no less serious. "There's an ancient shrine, hidden deep in the forest, that has the power to seal abilities like yours."
Yui's breath catches in her throat. A shrine that can seal her powers? The thought both terrifies and intrigues her. She's lived in fear of her abilities for so long, the idea of being free from them is almost too tempting to resist.
But as she looks at the elders, she sees something in their eyes—something they're trying to hide. A flicker of doubt, of uncertainty. They're not telling her everything.
"The shrine can protect the village, Yui," Koharu continues, her voice growing colder.
"It can keep everyone safe from... accidents."
"Accidents?" Yui repeats, her voice barely above a whisper.
"I-Is that what you think of me?"
Koharu's expression softens, but only slightly. "We're giving you a choice, Yui," she says, trying to sound gentle. "You can choose to seal your powers and live a peaceful life. Or you can continue as you are, but understand that you will always be a threat."
The words hang in the air, heavy with implication. Yui clenches her fists under the blanket, her mind racing. They're trying to make it sound like they're offering her freedom, but she knows better. This isn't a choice.
It's an ultimatum.
Homura steps closer, his voice almost a whisper. "We don't want to force you, Yui. But the safety of Konoha comes first. You understand that, don't you?"
Yui's eyes narrow, and she meets his gaze with a steely determination. "Y-you're not giving me a choice," she says, her voice shaking with emotion.
"Y-you're telling me to either seal myself away or be seen as a monster."
The room falls silent, the weight of her words sinking in. The elders exchange glances, their expressions unreadable. For a moment, Yui thinks she sees a flicker of guilt in Homura's eyes, but it's gone as quickly as it came.
"We're offering you a chance to be free," Koharu insists, but Yui can hear the strain in her voice.
"To live without fear."
