-3rd Person-

Kakashi steps out of Kurenai's house, the cool evening air hitting his face like a sharp reminder of the reality closing in around him. He pulls his mask a little tighter, as if it can somehow contain the chaos inside him. His heart is heavy, thoughts tangled in a web of desperation and helplessness. Every word from Kurenai lingers in his mind, stinging like an open wound: "She thinks she's protecting you."

He inhales deeply, forcing the tension in his chest to release, even if just for a moment. He doesn't have a plan. Not yet. And that terrifies him.

His feet carry him down the narrow path through Konoha's quieter streets, seeking solace in the stillness. He needs a breather, even though he knows time is running out.

As he rounds a corner near the flower stand, a small figure catches his eye. It's Naruto. The boy stands by the flower stall, stretching on his tiptoes to peer over the edge at the blooms on display. His wide blue eyes, always filled with curiosity and hope, scan the flowers as if searching for something important. His usual energy seems dialed down, though, more thoughtful than playful.

Kakashi feels an unexpected tug in his chest at the sight.

"Hey, Naruto," Kakashi greets, his voice softer than usual, not wanting to startle the boy.

Naruto looks up, surprise flashing across his face before breaking into a grin. "Kakashi!" he exclaims, bouncing over to him. "What're you doing out here?"

Kakashi crouches down, so he's closer to Naruto's height. He offers a small smile, but it doesn't quite reach his eyes. "Just needed some air, kid. What about you?"

Naruto looks back at the flowers, his expression growing more serious. "I was looking at the flowers... They remind me of someone."

Kakashi's curiosity is piqued. "Oh? Someone special?"

Naruto nods enthusiastically, though there's a slight hesitation in his movement. "Yeah. Yui. She's kinda like a flower, you know? Quiet but... I dunno... she's just different."

Kakashi's breath catches in his throat at the mention of Yui. Of course, even Naruto is worried about her. Kakashi's shoulders sag slightly, the weight of his guilt pressing harder. She's pulling away from everyone, and Naruto still thinks about her with such care...

"Yeah," Kakashi says softly, looking at the flowers. "She's special."

Naruto frowns, his young face creasing with concern. "Is something wrong with Yui? She hasn't been around much lately."

Kakashi looks down, momentarily lost for words. How do you explain to a seven-year-old that someone he cares about might disappear forever? That Yui, in her mind, is on the verge of sacrificing herself for the village she barely knows?

"She's... going through something right now," Kakashi finally says, his voice tight.

Naruto's face hardens with determination, his hands balling into fists. "Then we gotta help her, right? I can talk to her! She listens to me! We're friends, aren't we?"

Kakashi's heart breaks a little at Naruto's optimism. He wishes it were that simple, that all Yui needed was a friend's comforting words. But the truth is darker, more complicated, and far heavier than what Naruto can carry. Yet, in his small hands, he holds onto something Kakashi fears he's losing hope.

"I wish it were that easy," Kakashi murmurs, his voice barely audible. "Yui... she believes the only way to help us is to go away."

Naruto's eyes widen, and he shakes his head furiously. "No! That's stupid! Yui doesn't have to go anywhere! We can be her friends and help her stay!"

Kakashi clenches his fists, his mind racing. Naruto's words, so simple yet so full of heart, make his own helplessness feel suffocating. He's supposed to be the one with all the answers. He's supposed to protect those he cares about, but here he is, powerless against the very thing he's sworn to stop.

"I'm trying, Naruto," Kakashi says, his voice thick with frustration and emotion. "But Yui... she's made up her mind. And I don't know how to change it."

Naruto's gaze hardens, and he steps closer, looking up at Kakashi with a fierce determination that seems far too big for his small frame. "Well, I'm not giving up on her. And you shouldn't either. We can still help her. I know it."

Kakashi stares down at Naruto, stunned by the intensity in his eyes. The boy's unwavering belief that things can change, that Yui can be saved, makes something stir deep within him. How is it that Naruto, despite everything he's been through, can still hold onto so much hope? And why, when Kakashi has seen so much darkness, does that hope seem like the only light he can grasp onto now?

A heavy silence settles between them for a moment, until Naruto speaks again, softer this time.

"You always say we have to protect our friends, right?"

Kakashi nods, feeling his throat tighten.

"Then we'll protect Yui, no matter what."

Kakashi's chest tightens, emotion clawing at his insides. He reaches out, placing a gentle hand on Naruto's head. "You're right," he whispers, his voice hoarse. "We'll protect her. We'll find a way."

But deep inside, Kakashi knows they're running out of time. And while Naruto's faith gives him strength, the grim reality of Yui's decision looms over him like a shadow. The flower stall sits behind them, bright and colorful, a stark contrast to the storm brewing in his heart.

As Kakashi walks Naruto home, his mind keeps circling back to Yui—her quiet resolve, her isolation. She's pulling away from everyone, but he can't let her go. Not yet. Not like this.

When Naruto disappears into his apartment, Kakashi stands in the street for a long moment, staring at the darkening sky. He's a man of few words, but tonight, he feels the weight of all the things he hasn't said to Yui, all the ways he's failed to show her that she's more than just a danger to the village, more than her ability. She's Yui, and she matters.

His hands tighten into fists, and he knows he can't wait any longer. He needs to go back to Kurenai's House.
