-Kakashi-
The Hokage's office feels like it's suffocating me. The air is thick, laden with tension and the heavy weight of decisions that no one should have to make. Hiruzen is sitting behind his desk, his face lined with the exhaustion of a man burdened by responsibility. To his right, the Elders, Homura and Koharu, stand, their faces grim and set in stone. And, of course, Danzo lurks in the corner, always there, always watching, like a shadow that never leaves.
"Kakashi," Hiruzen begins, his voice calm but lined with something darker, something final. "We need to talk about Yui."
Just hearing her name feels like a blow. My heart races, and I clench my fists at my sides, already knowing that this conversation is going to be a disaster. The very fact that I've been summoned here means things are spiraling, faster than I can control.
"I already know what you're going to say," I bite out, my voice rough with frustration. "And if you think I'm going to let you treat her like some ticking time bomb, you're wrong."
Homura's eyes harden immediately, his jaw tightening. "Kakashi, this is not up for debate. The girl is a threat. Every day that passes, her isolation grows more dangerous."
I can't believe what I'm hearing. I glare at him, my hands trembling as I resist the urge to punch something, anything. "She's not a threat! She's just a kid who's been through hell, and now you're treating her like she's some kind of-"
"A weapon," Koharu cuts in, her voice cold and indifferent. "She is a weapon, whether you like it or not. She holds abilities that, left unchecked, could easily decimate this village."
I feel like I'm being ripped apart from the inside. "She's not a weapon! She's a child, and all you've done is make her feel like she's nothing more than a danger! You've made her fear herself!"
Hiruzen's sigh is long, drawn out, his weariness evident. He leans forward, resting his elbows on the desk, his eyes sorrowful. "Kakashi, believe me, I don't want this. I know Yui is not a monster. But her abilities... they've reached a point where we can't ignore the potential danger any longer."
I shake my head furiously, my pulse racing in my ears. "No. No, you don't understand. She's getting better. She's learning control. She just... she just needs time."
Danzo, who has been silent up until now, speaks, his voice slicing through the air like a blade. "Time is something we don't have. You've allowed your emotions to cloud your judgment, Hatake. Your attachment to the girl has compromised your ability to see the situation clearly."
I snap my head toward him, the fury boiling over inside me. "Shut up! You don't get to talk about emotions, Danzo. You've never given a damn about anyone but yourself and your precious ROOT."
Danzo's expression remains impassive, as if my outburst is beneath him. "You are an ANBU, Hatake. You were trained to put the village first, to follow orders without question. Yet here you are, defending a girl whose very existence is a risk to Konoha's future. You've become weak."
I can't hold back anymore. The anger that's been simmering inside me erupts, and I take a step toward him, my voice shaking with barely contained rage. "Weak? You call me weak because I care about her? You think that makes me less of a shinobi? You don't know a damn thing about strength."
"Kakashi." Hiruzen's voice is stern now, a warning, but I don't care. I'm too far gone, too angry, too terrified of what's coming next.
"I'm trying to save her!" I shout, my throat raw. "I'm trying to help her because none of you will! You've done nothing but make her feel like a freak—like she's something to be locked away and forgotten. And now you want to force her into sealing herself away? Do you even hear yourselves?"
