Anaya's POV
The contractions grew more and more painful as Abhi drove to the hospital. We did not wake up Aishu but asked our very trusted neighbours to take care of her instead.
A cry escaped my lips as the pain kept increasing and the contractions just won't stop. Tears blurred my eyes as I remember I still had a month before my estimated delivery date.
I just hope that my child is alright.
Soon we reached the hospital and I was being pushed towards the operation theatre as I laid on the stretcher. Abhi was with me all the while and did not leave my hand until we finally had to be separated upon entering the OT.
I don't even know how many hours I spent in the OT in labour pain as all I could interpret was the pain I felt which kept increasing, then the doctors asking me to do certain things. After sometime they said that they have to perform a caesarean operation and that Abhi has given the consent.
I knew the C-section would be really painful after reaching the middle ages but if that saves my child, I am ready for it.
I remember they gave me anaesthesia and then nothing. I blacked out. I wanted the numbing anaesthesia only but I guess that's what the hospital's procedures say. Anyways my BP would have shot up if it were the latter.
I felt someone was tapping my cheeks and I slightly opened my eyes, struggling to do so. I saw a small face in front of my eyes and heard the doctor speaking.
"Congratulations! The delivery was successful. You have..."
I heard a faint voice before I blacked out again. The next time I opened my eyes, I was laying on the stretcher, being taken to some other place. I still didn't recover from the dose as I closed my eyes again and went unconscious.
The next time I opened my eyes, I was in a much better condition. The brain fog slowly faded away as I analysed my surroundings.
I was in a hospital room, and couldn't see one human standing near me. As I further moved my eyes, I saw my Abhi sitting on a stool, sleeping with his head on the stretcher I was on, his hand entangled with mine. Moving my eyes near our intertwined hands, my eyes fell on our baby.
The baby's head was on my arm and the same hand was held by Abhi.
So small!
The baby reminded me of when I first saw Aishu, she too was just as small. Tears filled my eyes as I admired the small face. I later averted my gaze to look for Aisha but she was nowhere in sight. The sunlight creeping in from the window told me that it was already morning. Then why is she not here yet?
Before my mind could run off, I heard Abhi calling me out.
"Anu?" I shifted my attention to him and saw him smiling.
He moved closer carefully and cupped my face before pecking me on my forehead as I saw tears glistening in his eyes. "Thank God you woke up! I was getting worried by each passing time!" He gently whispered.
"We have a daughter." He said.
"She is so beautiful!" I whispered as I admired the small figure.
"Where is Aishu?" I asked upon still not spotting her. Abhi opened his mouth to answer but was cut short as we heard Aisha's voice.
"I am here!" We heard Aishu call out as she entered the dorm. Kanika followed close behind and closed the door once she entered.
Aishu rushed over to me and gave me a hug. My heart finally felt at peace seeing her here after so long. As I wrapped my arms around her I saw Kanika congratulating Abhi and turning towards me.
