Trekker sat nervously on the couch, his hand entwined with Christopher's. The large screen on the wall displayed the calling icon as it connected to his parents' video feed.
They're going to love you, Christopher murmured, though the edge in his voice revealed his anxiety.
The call finally connected, and the faces of Christopher's parents appeared on the screen. His father, a tall man with graying hair and sharp features, sat beside his wife, a warm, elegant woman with a kind smile. Beside them were Christopher's older brother, Marcus, who looked as if he had a strong, commanding presence, and his younger sister, Emily, whose expressive eyes revealed her curiosity.
Mom, Dad, Marcus, Emily—this is Trekker, my boyfriend Christopher said taking a deep breath and beginning the introduction.
Hi, everyone. It's a pleasure to finally meet you all Trekker said smiling warmly, and waving at the screen.
Christopher’s mother, Elaine, leaned forward with a smile. So, this is the famous Trekker. We've heard so much about you. I must admit, we were very curious to meet the man who made our Christopher wait for seven years.
Her words were light-hearted, but the underlying sentiment wasn’t lost on Trekker. He could feel the weight of those seven years in the way they looked at him, especially from Marcus, whose gaze was sharp and assessing.
Yes, Christopher's father, Harold, added with a slight nod. We were beginning to think our son had sworn off love altogether.
Christopher blushed, squeezing Trekker's hand tighter. It wasn’t like that… I just—
Trekker cut him off gently, It’s okay, Baby. He looked at the screen, meeting each of their gazes with sincerity.
I understand how it must have seemed. I shouldn't have run away back then, and I didn’t want to hurt Christopher, after he rejected me I thought leaving was the best thing for both of us, and I realized seven years late that if I hadn't run away and waited for the day to end things could have been better Trekker said.
Damn brother, you marked him. What are you a dog Emily asked watching Trekker's neck.
Emily...sshh Elaine said.
Marcus folded his arms, his expression still guarded. And now that you are together again, you are never leaving him right he asked.
Trekker nodded without hesitation. Yes, I'm never leaving and I’m here because I love him. I want to make up for lost time, for both of us Trekker said.
Christopher smiled as Trekker dropped the L word. He had never said it. Yes he said he liked him but never love. He was happy.
But you’re an Olseno, right? The Olseno family is… well, let’s just say you guys aren’t exactly low-profile, and you are associated with the Johnson's too. What if they make you guys break up because of the difference in your social classes Emily, said as she, leaned in closer to the camera
Trekker chuckled softly, nodding. That’s true. My family is well-known, the Johnson's are also my family but I’m here as Trekker, not as an Olseno or Johnson. My surname is Gyles and I don't plan on changing it unless he puts a ring on it Trekker said making Christopher smile.
I’m not interested in the family name or the power that comes with it—I just want to be with Chrissy. I'm a police officer, both families accepted him and he's mine I'll move heaven and earth just to fight for our love if I have to Trekker said.
He allows you to call him Chrissy, Elaine asked.
Yes Trekker said smiling.
Damn my brother is whipped. He's far gone. If I ever called him that he would hit me Emily said smiling.
