ACT TWO

INT. LA - ART GALLERY - MAIN EXHIBIT HALL - NIGHT

Kia makes her way over to Olivia.

SIMONE (O.S.)

Kia James... Don't act like you don't see me, girl.

Kia's eyes light up as she turns around. She pulls Simone into a warm embrace. As they pull back from the hug, Kia takes in Simone's appearance. She's rocking a Halle Berry-inspired short tapered cut and fitted short black dress.

KIA

Excuse me but you waltzed in looking like a movie star I didn't recognize you.. You look amazing.

Feeling self-conscious, Simone touches her locks.

SIMONE

You're not just saying that.

Kia leans in with a smirk and nods towards Jordan walking in.

KIA

If you don't believe me, look at Baker over there salivating. He's practically foaming at the mouth.

SIMONE

(blushes)

Stop...

KIA

Hmm. A little birdie told me you two went on a date the other night.

SIMONE

More like a big-mouth Parrot.

KIA

Speaking of Olivia, who is that fine Godiva with her?

Simone follows Kia's gaze to Shawn whispering in Olivia's ear as he rubs the small of her back. She crosses her arms.

SIMONE

More importantly, where the hell is my brother?

-- Kia looks towards the entrance and spots a fidgety Darnell on the phone. She makes a mental note to question him later.

-- Across the room, Olivia meets Simone's death stare and she wiggles out of Shawn's embrace. He eyes her with concern.

SHAWN

Is everything okay?

OLIVIA

Um yes. I just want to introduce you to one of our investors.

Olivia grabs Shawn's arm and leads him away.

-- With Jordan in tow, Darnell walks up and hands Kia a glass of champagne. He kisses her cheek. She eyes him curiously.

KIA

What was that call all about?

DARNELL

Oh, it's nothing, baby. Uh. Just a little mishap with a surprise I'm planning for our anniversary.

KIA

(not buying it)

Um hmm... If you say so.

(clears throat)

Jordan, so who's that with Liv?

Jordan's eyes never leave Simone's.
