What you know might not always be what is good for you.

SKAI LADISTON

You know that moment when you're stuck in a room with your ex and your brain plays countless scenarios in your head, each scenario containing intricate and well-crafted details of ways in which you could slowly but surely end his life?

Nobody?

Just me?

Fair enough, I guess.

But you have to understand that Jaden Brim is the most annoying, self-centered, egotistical, satyromaniac with a brain cell count of 0.5—and I'm probably exaggerating that last bit.

So, if I hate him so much why am I stuck in a room with him? The stupid airhead planned the whole thing to get back together with me.

"Look Skai, just give it one more chance, okay? I'll be better this time." He pleads.

"Let me out of here Jaden, I'm not giving you a third chance" I roll my eyes at him.

I know, I know; I just spent about 5 minutes talking about how stupid he was, yet I went back to him a second time. In my defense, I didn't say I was the brightest crayon in the box; I just could never lack as much intellect as 17 years old, Jaden Brim.

He might be 6'4" and hot with soft blonde hair and chocolate brown eyes, but he's also an absolute knucklehead.

"Can you at least let me hit?" ugh this is exactly part of the reason I hate him so much.

"Read the room Jaden. Not now Not ever."

"At least tell me you're going for the class trip?" He looked at me with hope in his eyes, I had no idea what trip he was talking about but I was determined to dim the light in his eyes.

"Nope" I smile, and just as I wanted, I see the light leave his eyes—unfortunately for me it came back as soon as it left.

"Then I guess we'll be spending the week before spring break together" he winks.

Finally, he lets go of me and steps out of my way, allowing me the peace of being far away from his irritating presence.

"Hey guys!" I beam at my friends as I approach our table in the cafeteria. A chorus of 'hey' and 'hi' goes round the table as I sit down.

"So where were you?" Emily asks me, tucking her golden blonde hair behind her ear while eating and studying simultaneously. My only female friend, Emily Solaris; she has these beautiful golden-brown eyes which look absolutely mesmerizing in the sunlight, she's 5'4, 16 years old and dating Elijah. Emily has a quiet personality, she only speaks when she needs to and she often speaks in facts—but around us she is a little bit free in comparison to how she relates with others, she speaks but it isn't a lot, it's hard to know what goes on in her mind, although she and Elijah seem to understand each other very well.

"With Jaden" I roll my eyes and take a bite of Elijah's burger; I could feel their eyes on me and the table was suddenly silent.

"You've gotten back together with him, haven't you?" Elijah is the one to ask, I can feel his violet eyes burning through me. Elijah Starling has stunning dark skin, he's 6'4, 17 years old, and sports a short coily afro with the most beautiful eyes known to man –the mystery behind how his eyes are such an unusual color, nobody knows—he is unlike any teenage boy I've ever met, he's just different, he's very put together, and when it's clear as day how in love with Emily he is.

"Oh hell no! I'm not stupid guys" I can see the disappointment washing off all their faces.

"Thought I'd have to throw a brick at you this time" Dexter chuckles. 17 years old Dexter Bardo: short wavy brown hair, emerald green eyes, 6'4 and the absolute life of any party, he's just a joy to be around.
