Good people have bad days too.
SKAI LADISTON
If there's one thing Emily was right about it was the bugs. The school actually came with a minivan that has power supply but it was out of bounds for the students. That aside, the bugs were everywhere, but thank God the wonderful Emily Solaris came with her trusty bug spray.
Walking back into the tent I share with Emily after drinking water from the dispenser in the minivan, I'm immediately faced with Emily crying, Emily hardly ever cries.
The last time I saw her cry was when Callum died.
"What's wrong?" I ask her moving closer to her, seeing her cry made me sad. I didn't even realize that I started crying with her till I sniffed. I'm really emotional, okay? don't judge me.
Rain softly hitting our tent, that's odd it's not supposed to rain this week at all, I checked the weather forecast this morning.
"It's Elijah" she sniffed.
Shock goes through me and my tears stop flowing "Elijah?" they never fight and besides Emily seemed to be in such a good mood today.
"Something is wrong with him" She sniffed "We were hanging out right" she turns to face me "but then suddenly he stopped talking to me, he said he couldn't see. After that, he told me to leave him be that he needed time to understand something" she sobs softly
"Did he tell you what?" I ask, racking my brain for what to say, I'm not exactly the best at comforting people.
"No" she cries "I tried to ask him, I kept trying to talk to him but then he yelled at me" she looks down as trying to decipher his reason behind it, Elijah doesn't yell, he's not an aggressive person.
Playing with her skirt she turns back to face me, the pain evident in her eyes "I'm honestly just a little hurt" she pauses "And really worried, he has never acted that way before" she bites her lip trying to hold back the tears." I'm worried about him Skai" she started sobbing loudly at this point.
I wrap my arms around her, gently rubbing her back "it's okay" I mutter softly over and over again.
"No, it's not" she sobs, one thing about Emily? She's an ugly and loud cryer, it would be a miracle if the tents beside us can't hear us.
Then there was a knock on our tent, or an attempt at least.
"Skai, can I come in?" It is River.
"No" I call out.
"Are you decently dressed?" He asks ignoring my 'no'
"Yes, but go away" I call out, Emily's sobs had gone down now with River's presence at the other side of the tent.
"Whatever" I hear him mutter and he just waltzed into the tent.
"Oh" He pauses as he sees Emily's situation.
He looks at her genuinely concerned "You look terrible Em, what happened?" He asks and Emily relays the story to him. I mean, personally, if he told me I looked terrible I wouldn't have answered him but each to their own, I guess.
"That's weird, well I believe he's sleeping now so don't worry too much, wanna see for yourself?" River asks and Emily nods standing up.
Elijah, asleep in broad daylight? Doesn't he have some weird case of insomnia?
Weird.
I really hope they work out whatever is going on, they're such a cute couple, and Elijah makes Emily happy.
I walk out the tent following behind both of them as we headed to the tent the three boys managed to share because none of them were willing to share with a rando, in reality they probably just have a weird case of separation anxiety.
It also stopped raining, thank God.
River and I decide to wait outside the tent as Em walks in.
"You think they'll be fine?" I ask River and he places his arm around my shoulder.
"Yup" he smiles "I wonder where Dexter is"
Actually, where is Dexter?
