Change is what makes us who we are, it's what defines us
RIVER LADISTON
Change is a very mischievous concept, it can either make or break a person, and if that's not scary I don't know what is.
The instance of something, someone or a certain way of life being altered, different or interrupted for an uncertain period of time bothers me deeply.
That being said, regardless of my displeasure towards the inevitable concept, I have to learn to adjust to it, because if I stop and wait, life will still go on.
It's been two days since we started attending Lucrari and I'm currently sitting in serum making/potion brewing class, I have this class with Emily but we're not partners, the seating chart is by name.
Instead, my partner is some girl named Ridea, who names their kid Ridea? Anyways, Ridea doesn't talk much or at all but then again it's not like I'm a chatterbox myself.
I was trying to follow the list as best as I could—I reallywas just pouring anything into the jar—hoping I was doing at least something right.
If I'm being honest, I just don't care, the only class that is of any interest to me and I believe will be beneficial to my life and the life of my friends are skill cultivation, skill testing and history.
Skill cultivation might teach me a thing or two about survival I'm guessing. Skill testing will help me figure out if I have skills, if I do then they maybe they would be useful in helping us go home. History will help me learn more about this place, which would give me at least some leverage, it's better than being an empty box.
"You're doing it wrong" Ridea chirps at me. Oh so the girl speaks?
"Oh, I'm aware" I tell her nonchalantly although I am genuinely surprised that she is speaking to me.
"That's the yellow viper's venom" she points a small bottle filled with black liquid. "And that's rabbit fur" she points at what I can now clearly see as rabbit fur.
"You weren't meant to add salty kelp, and lizard scales to the serum" she smiles at me.
I wish I gave a shit.
"My bad" I mutter.
"The names are literally written on the bottles, it's really not that hard" she adds.
"Okay" what else am I supposed to say?
"I can help you, so you don't end up failing this class" she continues.
"Ridea, as much as I apprecia-" I cut myself off "Sure, I'm really grateful" I give her a big smile.
She might know a few things.
She assists me in mixing the serum and then it was time to test it, it was a hair growth serum, the professor said that it would only last a couple minutes because of the frog saliva which is present in it, we were to test it on ourselves.
I was not a party to this, but I had no choice, everyone else was doing it.
I put a drop of it onto my tongue and swallowed it, almost immediately I see my hair begin to grow, it grew all the way down to my waist and then it stopped.
Well on the bright side, my hair went back to normal after a few minutes.
"Thank you" I smile at Ridea after the serum had worn off.
"You know, creating the wrong serums could have dangerous effects on you. Additionally, Mr. Rodly hates that, that's why we're our own test subjects, you suffer the consequences and so does your grade." She informs me and I shrug, It's not like I cared, I'd be out of here in a couple weeks.
