DEXTER BARDO
Back and forth
Back and forth
Back and forth
It was like a command, I had no control over it, somehow, it was like my eyes weren't mine anymore.
They belonged to her.
I don't know why I keep staring at her. She's asleep, you're being creepy. I can't fathom the reason why my eyes keep going back to her, is it be because her brother is asleep and he won't be able to protect her if something happens?
She's like a sister to me, that's why. Right?
I'm just being caring, I'm just being a good friend watching over her.
I try to look straight ahead at the stacked boxes to avoid constantly looking over at her.
But just when I thought I had escaped it our memories flooded my mind.
The times she would support my ideas, and listen carefully to everything I would say no matter how irrelevant it is, every time she'd turn to me for help, or lean on me for support, or just be happy when I'm happy.
I run my hand through my hair letting out a heavy sigh.
"You good?" Elijah whispers to me.
"Yeah" I smile with my lips in a straight line. "Great"
I'm probably deeping it, Skai is a great friend.
That's why I'm thinking about all of this.
My eyes fall on her again.
need to snap out of it.
"Do you have water?" I ask Elijah hoping the water would wash away the heaviness in my chest.
"I should have a little left in my bag" he carefully moves Emilly's head to his legs and searches his backpack for the bottle of water.
He finds it and passes it to me.
I gulp the remaining water down, does it help? Not really.
The smell of nature would've been much better.
"You should sleep" I tell Elijah. "The sun should rise in about a little over an hour"
"Should I wake Emily or Skai to join you?" he asks.
"Nah I'll be fine" I assure him
"If anything happens just wake me up, okay?" He adds before adjusting his position, so they could both lay down and sleep.
Time flies faster that I thought it would and by my calculations, which are probably off, the sun would rise in exactly 10 minutes.
I should probably wake them up, I decide to leave Elijah for last because he didn't get much sleep.
I walk over to Skai and River first.
"River, Skai" I whisper yell shaking them both gently.
River gets up almost immediately.
"The sun should be rising soon" I inform him, he runs his hand through his hair and turns to face his sister.
"You should wake Emily and Elijah" he yawns "I'll wake Skai"
I follow his instructions and make my way to the two lovebirds.
Emily was wrapped in Elijah's arms, it felt almost illegal to ruin this moment.
