The soft glow of the morning sun streamed through the large windows of the cozy villa the three boys had rented for the shoot on Jeju Island. The sea breeze gently ruffled the curtains as Jungkook, Jimin, and Taehyung sat around the kitchen table, laughing and teasing each other over breakfast. They were in the middle of shooting Jungkook's and Jimin's reality show, "Are You Sure?", a series meant to explore life, adventure, and their friendship in a more intimate and unscripted way.
This particular episode was special. Taehyung had come along as a surprise guest, and the three of them planned to explore the island together, diving into activities ranging from hiking to trying local delicacies. Everything seemed perfect.
But beneath the surface, things were far from perfect.
Jungkook had been struggling, quietly hiding his pain behind the facade of his easygoing smile and playful demeanor. The stress from work, the pressures of fame, and the unrelenting demands of being under the public eye had taken a toll on him. But instead of talking to anyone about it, he buried his feelings deep inside, pretending everything was fine. Over time, those feelings festered, turning into something darker. Something he couldn't control.
And now, here they were—on Jeju Island. Everything was supposed to be relaxing. The cameras captured their every move, their laughter, and their moments of genuine friendship. But the cameras couldn't see the turmoil inside Jungkook, the cracks in his smile, or the marks he had begun hiding under his long sleeves.
The Beginning of the Day
They were set to hike Mount Hallasan that day. As usual, the cameras followed them closely as they joked around while packing snacks and water bottles into their backpacks.
"Are you sure you're ready for this, Jimin-ah?" Jungkook teased as he slung his bag over his shoulder. His voice was light, playful, masking the heaviness in his chest.
"Yah!" Jimin laughed, swatting at Jungkook. "You're the one who keeps stopping for breath every five minutes. I'll race you to the top!"
Taehyung chuckled, his deep voice adding to the lighthearted banter. "Let's just make it there alive, please."
The crew followed them as they started their ascent, capturing their friendly bickering and the stunning views of Jeju Island. To anyone watching, it was just another fun day for BTS's golden trio. But as they climbed higher, Jungkook began to fall behind, his energy waning more quickly than usual.
Taehyung and Jimin noticed, but they chalked it up to the heat or the fact that Jungkook had been working particularly hard lately with his solo projects.
"You okay, Kookie?" Jimin called back, pausing to wait for him.
"Yeah, yeah," Jungkook panted, forcing a grin. "Just taking it slow. You go ahead. I'll catch up."
