Part 2 of 'more pills than food'
------
Jungkook spent the next few weeks in a haze, balancing between moments of fragile hope and the dark, relentless pull of despair. The members were there, always hovering just close enough to lend support without suffocating him, but he still struggled to let go of the crutch he had leaned on for too long. The pills had become more than a habit—they were a part of him, a dark secret he carried like an anchor. He knew they were destroying him, but the fear of facing his demons without them was even more terrifying.
One night, as they returned from another exhausting performance, the atmosphere in their dorm was thick with silence. The members were tired; their bodies ached, their voices were strained, and yet, each one of them kept an eye on Jungkook. They had seen him falter tonight—his usually flawless moves just a little sluggish, his smiles a bit too forced. Jungkook could feel their concern, and it only deepened the guilt inside him. He didn't want to be a burden, and he hated the idea that he was causing them more pain.
Jin approached him quietly as they sat in the living room. Everyone else had retreated to their rooms, but Jin stayed behind, watching Jungkook carefully. He had brought a cup of hot tea and placed it in front of Jungkook on the coffee table. Jungkook looked up, his eyes meeting Jin's kind gaze.
"Drink it," Jin said softly, his voice barely above a whisper. "It'll help you relax."
Jungkook hesitated for a moment, then picked up the cup, the warmth of the ceramic seeping into his cold hands. He took a tentative sip, the chamomile taste gentle on his tongue. They sat in silence for a while, Jin not pressuring him to speak, simply being there with him.
Jungkook wanted to say something, anything, but the words were stuck in his throat. He wanted to apologize, to explain, but there were no words that could convey the mess inside his mind. Jin seemed to understand without him saying anything, his expression softening.
"I know it feels like you have to be perfect," Jin finally said, his voice filled with a gentle kind of authority that made Jungkook look up. "But you don't. Not for us. Not for ARMY. Not for anyone."
Jungkook swallowed hard, his eyes stinging. He took a deep breath, trying to find his voice. "But I don't want to let anyone down, hyung. Everyone expects so much from me."
Jin nodded, leaning back against the couch, his eyes never leaving Jungkook's face. "I understand that. We all feel that pressure, Jungkook. But if you keep pushing yourself like this, trying to meet everyone's expectations, you're going to break. And none of us want that. We'd rather have you here, safe, with us, even if you're not perfect."
Jungkook felt a tear escape, sliding down his cheek before he could stop it. He quickly wiped it away, his hands trembling. Jin shifted closer, placing a hand on Jungkook's shoulder.
