As the days went on, the members began to notice the small things, the signs they'd missed before, now glaringly obvious in the harsh light of hindsight. They noticed how Jungkook rarely spoke, his responses clipped and hollow, as though his voice had lost all the warmth and life they remembered. He barely ate, picking at his food with an absent expression, his eyes distant, glazed over like he was somewhere far from the table, far from them. And when they thought he was resting, he was merely lying awake, staring at nothing, consumed by a silence that seemed to swallow him whole.

It was Namjoon who voiced the fear first, pulling the others aside one evening after Jungkook had retreated to his room. They huddled in the dimly lit kitchen, each of their faces a mask of worry and helplessness.

"I think it's worse than we thought," Namjoon said quietly, his voice strained. "This isn't just him needing a break. He's... he's not himself. He's disappearing in front of us."

The others exchanged glances, each of them looking haunted. Jimin had seen Jungkook cry before, but never like this—never with the lifeless, hollow look he'd had in his eyes the other night. Taehyung recalled the way Jungkook had hesitated before stepping into the living room, like even the smallest step took all the strength he had left. And Hoseok, usually so bright, had been unnervingly silent, unable to reconcile the Jungkook he'd known—the vibrant, spirited youngest—with the empty shell they were seeing now.

"He's not just hurting," Jin finally whispered, his face pale. "He's... I think he's giving up."

The words sent a chill through them all. It was a thought none of them wanted to say aloud, yet here it was, laid bare in front of them. Each of them knew the signs, but seeing it in Jungkook—their Jungkook—was something else entirely. The thought terrified them.

"What if..." Taehyung's voice broke, and he looked down, his fists clenched tightly at his sides. "What if we're not here one day and... and he...?"

The implication of Taehyung's unfinished sentence hung heavily in the air, twisting their stomachs into knots. The fear that Jungkook might be thinking about more than just retreating into himself, that he might be considering something irreversible, was a horror they couldn't ignore.

Namjoon placed a hand on Taehyung's shoulder, grounding him. "We can't let him be alone," he said firmly, though his voice trembled slightly. "Not until we know he's safe. We need to make sure he knows we're here. That he's not... that he doesn't feel like he's alone in this."

They spent the next few days trying to keep him close, creating excuses for him to join them in the living room, coaxing him to eat with them, trying to find ways to keep him engaged, even if only for a few minutes. But the efforts felt painfully small, like trying to hold back a tidal wave with open hands. Jungkook would nod, sometimes offer a small smile that never reached his eyes, and retreat back to his room, slipping away into that dark space they couldn't quite reach.

Late one night, Jimin knocked softly on Jungkook's door and, receiving no response, opened it gently. He found Jungkook curled up on the bed, eyes red-rimmed and unfocused, staring blankly at the wall.

"Jungkook-ah," Jimin whispered, sitting on the edge of the bed. Jungkook didn't respond, his gaze unfaltering, as though he didn't even see him. Jimin felt his heart clench painfully, the desperation twisting inside him. He wanted to shake Jungkook, to snap him out of this, to bring him back, but he knew it wasn't that simple.

"Talk to me," Jimin said, his voice breaking. "Please... I just want to understand."

For a moment, there was only silence, the quiet hum of the room stretching between them. Then, finally, Jungkook spoke, his voice so soft it was barely a whisper.
