JUNGKOOK
The soft light of morning filters through the curtains, casting a gentle glow across the room. I sit at the edge of the bed, watching Jimin as he sleeps fitfully beside me. His breaths are uneven, and his face, still flushed from the previous night's tears, looks both exhausted and fragile.
I haven't slept much, too caught up in the storm of emotions and the weight of the decisions we've had to make. I glance at the clock—it's already late morning, and the day looms ahead with the same heavy decisions that we faced yesterday.
I can't help but feel a pang of guilt; I wish there was more I could do to ease his pain, but the weight of justice and the law's unyielding grip are things I can't ignore.
It's frustrating—no, it's heart-wrenching—to see him so disconnected, so lost. He's the light of my life, and right now, that light is flickering, barely holding on against the storm of his emotions.
He's been through so much in the past week. His kidnapping, the betrayal from someone he considered a friend—it's enough to break anyone. I know he's struggling with the decision we have to make about Hobi, and I can see how deeply conflicted he is. But as much as I want to support him and be there for him, there are lines that can't be crossed. Hobi needs to face the consequences of his actions, no matter how much it hurts Jimin.
Jimin stirs, his eyes fluttering open. He looks around, disoriented for a moment, before focusing on me. I offer him a small, reassuring smile, though I can't completely hide the concern in my eyes.
"Morning, baby," I say softly, my voice gentle to avoid startling him.
He sits up slowly, wincing slightly as if the previous day's emotional turmoil has left its mark on him. "Morning," he replies, his voice rough from last night's crying. He looks at me, searching for comfort, but I can see the same pain and confusion still clouding his eyes.
"How are you feeling?" I ask, trying to gauge where he's at emotionally.
"I'm... tired." He rubs his eyes and takes a deep breath. I nod, understanding his frustration.
"Baby," I say, my voice steady. "I know this is tearing you apart. But think about what Hobi did. It wasn't just a mistake or a moment of weakness. It was a deliberate choice that put you and everyone else at risk. We have to make sure that his actions don't go unpunished. It's the only way to prevent something like this from happening again."
"I know..." His voice is barely above a whisper, his words heavy with resignation. He flashes a tight-lipped smile, but it doesn't reach his eyes. A sigh escapes his lips, trembling with the weight of everything he's been holding in. "He deserves it."
Hearing him say it out loud feels like a small victory, but it's bittersweet. I know this isn't easy for him; it's not easy for either of us. The tight-lipped smile he gives me is a stark contrast to the tears I know he's holding back.
"He deserves it," He repeats, as if trying to convince himself more than me. The conviction in his voice wavers, betraying the turmoil he's been battling inside.
Jimin looks down at his hands, his fingers twisting the hem of the blanket. "I just... I keep thinking about all the good times, all the moments when he was my best friend, and it's like... I don't even recognize him anymore. How could he do this to us?"
I pull him closer, wrapping my arms around him as he buries his face in my chest. His shoulders tremble, and I can feel the fresh tears soaking through my shirt. I hold him tighter, wishing I could take away his pain, but knowing that all I can do is be there for him as he works through it, no matter how helpless I feel.
