I should really invest in some blackout curtains. Was the first thing I thought of when I woke up from my sleep the next morning. The sun blazing in through my blinds, I can't wait until winter time. I extended my arm out and the only thing I could feel was sheet. Oh. Ken must've left.

I turned to my right side away from the window and turned on my phone. No text from Ken, mhm. I wasn't going to let that bring me down, I still felt good about us. I shot a 'Good morning beautiful' text to both Von and Valerie before getting out of bed. Today was Saturday and my graduation was set for the upcoming Wednesday at 3 pm. My hair and nails were already freshly done, but I did need an outfit and a plan for afterwards.

I only have two friends, Valerie and Von, & sometimes Valerie's sister, Keva, and my boyfriend, if you wanna include him, Ken. So there wasn't really much to do. Von didn't really get along with any of my friends, it's always been like that since we first met Junior year of high school.

His friends love me though so I don't know. If I do plan something afterwards it would have to be Von separately, I'll still invite him though, but I already know what the answer is.

I had one last assignment to complete before I could be clear to graduate and I have until 11:59 tonight to do so. I still don't understand why my professor would give us homework if we graduate in a couple of days, but questioning it won't do anything.

I slipped out of bed, & took a quick shower to start my day, I didn't plan on leaving the house today honestly. I might cook later on, but that's if I feel like it.

I called Valerie and invited her over. She was usually off on Saturdays and so was I. And since it was yesterday was officially my last day of school, why not celebrate?

Valerie pulled up hour 3 pm. Kali had begun cooking a pot of Rotel nachos, her favorite. When Kali thought about it, it had been a while since she and Valerie hung out, feels like decades but really it's only been 1 week and a half. So that was more reason for her to drink her face off & have fun.

Kali was low cooking the ground meat when she heard a knock on the door, she answered without looking, assuming it was Valerie, and invited her in.

Valerie stood at her doorstep, 5'7, with pretty light skin with long 32-inch pink hair.

Valerie was raised by her black dad, so her mannerisms were similar to those who grew up in an all-black household. Her mom, a trailer park white woman, dumped her with her father when she was a baby after their divorce. So her father's side of the family is all she knows.

Maybe that's why she is so stern when it comes to bullshit. Her father and her 3 older brothers kept her on game. As for her father, he remarried a black woman and has 2 beautiful boys. Dayton and Derious.

The youngest brother of the 2, Jamal was made of out wedlock with a half-black, half-Mexican woman. Jamal's Mexican side was nonexistent. He claims fully black and that's what he showed. He stood now 6'2 dark skin, with dreads that hung right above his shoulders. He came over often, the 2 parents rotated the child on weekdays and weekends.

This came to an end when Jamal was arrested for the first time at 16 years old for aggravated robbery with a deadly weapon. He served 2 years and got out on probation. Once he touched down, Kali and he shared a short relationship that quickly ended when he couldn't keep his hands to himself.

Kali is a beautiful girl and most men can't handle beautiful girls. Jamal put Valarie and Kali's relationship in danger with his inability to control his anger. Von got involved and nearly killed Jamal once he saw Kali's face.

With Valerie being Kali's best friend and the one who put the 2 together, guilt ate her alive, but Kali made it very clear that it was never her fault and she should stay out of it. Knowing Valerie she couldn't but she was forced to when guns got involved between Von and Jamal.
