"Settle down, Everyone," Mr. Kim called out. "We have a special project coming up. You'll be working in pairs to create a presentation on a historical event of your choice. This is an opportunity for you to delve deep into a topic, do some research, and learn to collaborate effectively. I've already assigned the pairs, so listen carefully."
Ain wondering who she'd be paired with.
Mr. Kim started reading out the pairs and with each name called, Ain felt the anticipation build. Finally, she heard her name.
"Ain and Jay," Mr. Kim announced.
Ain's eyes widened in surprise. She glanced over at Jay, who was sitting quietly at his desk.
As the class ended, Mr. Kim handed out the project guidelines and encouraged everyone to start discussing their topics.
"Hey, Jay. Looks like we're partners."
"Yes, it seems so. Do you have any ideas for the topic?"
"Well, I was thinking maybe something from ancient history? Or maybe a significant event that had a big impact on modern times?"
Jay nodded thoughtfully.
"Both are good options. We could explore something like the Industrial Revolution or the fall of the Roman Empire. Those events shaped the world in fundamental ways."
Ain was impressed by his suggestions.
"I like those ideas. How about we meet at the library after school to start our research? We can finalize the topic then."
"Sounds good."

After school, Ain made her way to the library. She found Jay already there, seated at a table near the back, surrounded by books.
"Hey, Jay. You've been busy I see."
"I wanted to get a head start. I hope you don't mind."
"Not at all. So, did you narrow down our topic?"
Jay nodded and showed her his notes.
"I was thinking we could focus on the Industrial Revolution. It's a broad topic, but we can narrow it down to its impact on society and technology. What do you think?"
"I like it. There's a lot we can explore and it's a topic that's still relevant today. Let's do it."
