The following week, the school seemed to buzz with anticipation. She noticed Jay looking more distracted than ever.
It was unusual to see Jay like this.
"Jay? Is everything okay?"
"Oh, yeah... everything's fine."
Later that afternoon, as they made their way to the library for their usual study session, Ain couldn't shake the feeling that Jay was hiding something.
"Are you sure everything is okay?"
"Really, Ain.. I'm okay."
As they settled into their usual corner of the library, Jay glanced at the clock once more. Ain noticed it this time, a small, almost imperceptible smile forming on his lips. She couldn't help but wonder what he was up to.
"So, about our project..."
Jay cut her off.
"Actually, before we get started... could you come with me for a minute?"
"Where are we going?"
Jay' smile widened and he shrugged.
"You'll see."

Ain agreed and followed Jay out of the library. He led her through the corridors and down the stairs. They turned a corner and walked toward the music room, which was usually empty after school hours.
When they reached the door...
"Close your eyes."
Ain laughed.
"Seriously?"
"Just trust me. Okay... open them."
Ain opened her eyes and gasped. The room was dimly lit by soft fairy lights strung across the walls. In the center, there was a small table with a cake, a few balloons, and a homemade banner that read "Happy Birthday, Ain!"
A chorus of "Surprise!" erupted from a small group of their classmates who were gathered around, smiling and clapping. Actually she hadn't told anyone about her birthday—not even Jay.
"Jay, how did you..."
Jay shrugged, a shy smile on his face.
"I have my ways. I heard you mentioning it to someone in passing a few days ago. I thought... maybe you deserved a little surprise."
"This is... this is so amazing! Thank you, Jay. I can't believe you went through all this trouble."
"It wasn't much. I just wanted to make sure you felt special today."
Jay looking a bit nervous.
"And, well... I have something for you."
He reached into his bag and pulled out a small, neatly wrapped package.
"Happy birthday, Ain."
Ain's hands trembled slightly as she took the gift. She carefully unwrapped it, revealing a beautiful sketchbook. The cover was adorned with delicate floral designs, and Ain realized that the designs were actually hand-drawn.
"Jay, you... drew this?"
"Yes, I know you like art and I thought you might like to have a place to draw... or write... or whatever you feel like doing."
"This is the sweetest thing anyone has ever done for me. Thank you, Jay. I love it."
"I'm glad you like it."
