Like Crazy

I can't believe I actually came.

Nari and I were slowly making our way into the theater where the dance showcase is being held. Jungkook arrived earlier with Taehyung. The crowd was dressed semi formal, and Nari helped me get ready. Nari wore a long maroon dress with black heels.  I wore black dress pants with a black and white blazer and my favorite black heels.

Nari grabs my hand and leads me down the aisle. We shimmy our way down, and Nari sits down next to Jungkook. I look next to him and see Taehyung staring at the stage ahead. I frown and sit down. I poke Nari’s arm. “You didn't tell me that Tae would be here.”

“You didn't ask.” Nari intertwined her hand with mine. “Maybe you can talk to him.”

The lights suddenly dimmed, and a spotlight shone on the stage. Music starts playing, and dancers enter the stage from the wings.  My eyes immediately go to one dancer in particular. He is slim and hitting every mark with energy. I would recognize those steps anywhere. Jimin danced around my living room with the same strength and grace. The numbers that Jimin was not in went by very fast because I barely watched them. I only watched Jimin tonight.

Nari nudges my arm as the current number ends. “Nalia, this is it. Jimin’s solo is next.”

I glance down at the pamphlet she held in her hands. There, at the end, was Jimin’s solo named Like Crazy. Music starts playing, and my eyes snap back to the stage. Jimin’s figure is already on stage, and he quickly starts moving to the music. His body mesmerizes me as I listen to the lyrics. The voice sounds really familiar. Did Jimin record a song?

“Yes this is Jimin singing.” Jungkook leans forwards and whispers. “Taehyung and I helped him with it.”

Nari quietly clapped, and my eyes went back to the stage. Jimin glides around the stage, and suddenly, he stops. The music fades, and the stage goes dark. I feel a single tear fall from my eye. The lights turn back on, and all the dancers walk on stage and give a final bow. The crowd erupts into applause, and the dancers exit.

“Come on, Nalia.” Nari holds out her hand. Jungkook is whispering with Taehyung. I wipe my face with the back of my hand and take hers.

We all follow Taehyung out and turn down the opposite way of the rest of the crowd. We turn a couple of corners and enter a room full of people dressed in costumes. Some were holding flowers, others hugging and shaking hands. In the back corner, there was a slim, dark-haired dancer who was quickly throwing a t-shirt on.

“You were fantastic, Jimin!” Taehyung hugs Jimin from behind. Jimin smacks his head and turns around and high-fives Jungkook with a big smile on his face. His smile slowly fades as our eyes meet. He bites his lower lip and gives me a small smile.

Nari lets go of my hand and loops her arm through Jungkook’s. They make their way out, and Taehyung is behind them. He stops near me and whispers. “Don't mess up a second time.” He then walks off.

I glance in the direction the three went and turn back to Jimin. He takes a step forward and looks me in the eye. “Thank you for coming.”

I let out a breath. “You were amazing tonight. Especially your solo.”

“Thanks.” Jimin sighs. “It was about you and me.”

I lick my lips. “Really?”

Jimin takes another step forward and takes my hand. “Yeah. I still dream of us together, and honestly, I don't want to wake up from them. I didn't want to face the reality of what happened.” He squeezes my hand. “You really hurt me,  Nalia.”

“I am so so sorry,  Jimin.” I can feel tears forming again.

“I thought about it,  and we wouldn't have gotten so close if it wasn't for the bet.” Jimin cups my face and makes me look him in the eye again. Tears fall down my face. “I have been going crazy without you,  Nalia. I want to trust you again.”

I shake my head. “I don't deserve you, Jimin.”

“Nalia,” He rubs his thumb against my cheek. “You are obviously feeling guilty about this. I forgive you Nalia. I want to start over with you.”

I shake my head again. “Jimin, you deserve someone so much better than me.”

Jimin embraces me. “You are what I want, Nalia. I take you with all the faults you see in yourself. You make me happy. Will you take me back?”

I bury my face into his chest. “I should be begging for your forgiveness and on my knees for you to take you back. You shouldn't be asking for me back.”

Jimin chuckles. “Why would we do anything predictable? That makes it boring.” Jimin pulls back. “Can we start over?”

I sniffle and wipe my face again. “Only if you will have me.”

Jimin smiles and hugs me tight. I giggle and embrace him. Jimin cups my face again and kisses me. My arms fling around his neck and pull him closer. We both pull back, and Jimin rests his forehead against mine.

“I missed you.”
