Behind the school library, there's a small grove with a narrow path that leads to a small side gate at the south entrance. However, few people use this path; only the work-study students occasionally sweep up fallen leaves and twigs.
As the day was just beginning, Yao Ziqing stood in the somewhat eerie grove, removing the ring covering the red lines on his index finger and holding it up in the air.
After some repeated testing, he found that the faint, nearly invisible mist lines didn't appear every time there was fog.
It was clear that this mist wasn't smog but natural fog, especially common in the mornings after rain.
Once, he accidentally saw a red light flash across the red lines, which scared him quite a bit. The belief in ghosts and deities has always existed, just not explainable by science.
The appearance of the space itself was an unexplainable scientific phenomenon. If this space was another form of living entity, then he might be its host, which was unsettling.
Yao Ziqing tried to communicate with it, whether by talking to himself like a fool or through so-called mental communication, but there was no response.
The red lines only seemed to react when the white mist appeared.
After spending a day searching, Yao Ziqing went to the hospital for an examination. Although his second brother had previously checked him, those tests were for various bodily functions and indicators, which he didn't understand. He had never compared those results before.
When he got the report, Yao Ziqing was quite surprised.
He had always had poor health and grew up drinking traditional Chinese medicine, so his resistance was naturally weak.
Years of hard work with part-time jobs, poor rest, and insufficient nutrition had left him in worse shape.
The last school health check had revealed severe anemia. But this new report showed everything was normal, even his chronic gastritis had improved significantly.
Yao Ziqing also felt his stamina had greatly improved. He used to be out of breath after running a lap around the playground, but now he could run two laps and still recover quickly.
Moreover, his roommates hadn't noticed, but his appetite had really increased.
He used to be full after about 200 grams of food, but now he needed around 300 grams to feel satisfied.
Since he started paying attention to the red lines and white mist as well as his own changes, he found that whenever the mist lines appeared and the red lines lit up, he felt particularly good. It wasn't an abnormal kind of excitement, but rather like feeling fully rested and energized.
His sleep had also improved significantly; he now slept a solid six hours and felt refreshed throughout the day, with hardly any midday fatigue.
However, the red lines didn't always light up when the mist lines appeared, and Yao Ziqing still hadn't figured out the pattern.
Additionally, the space had undergone minor changes. When it was still a ring, Yao Ziqing could feel its vastness, but it was just a sensation—he couldn't see or physically touch it.
Now, he felt that if he concentrated, he could vaguely see the few things stored in the space.
It was more than just an abstract feeling; he could actually visualize them in his mind.
But he could only maintain this focus for a short time. If he tried to push too hard, he would experience headaches and nausea.
Once, he tried to push his limits in the middle of the night when everyone in the dorm was asleep, and almost ended up being taken to the hospital by his roommates. After that, he didn't dare to overdo it.
