The losses at the supermarket were naturally the responsibility of the local manager. When news spread that there was a large amount of goods available for the taking, the manager rushed over. Seeing the supermarket being looted, the manager was stunned. He immediately reported the incident to the police. However, since it was a crowd situation and the looters had already fled with their spoils by the time the police arrived, there was nothing much they could do.

But the supermarket incident was just the beginning. That afternoon, another department store in a different area was also maliciously looted. Some people broke the iron locks, rushed in to grab items, and then ran away. Those who lived nearby, despite the scorching sun, made several trips to take as much as they could.

With the heat unbearable and power outages making it impossible to buy anything, many citizens were desperate. Even if they were caught, at least they'd get food in jail.

Seeing the situation worsening, Yao Ziqing wasn't sure if this turmoil was good or bad. On the positive side, apart from those in the heavily drought-affected areas, people in other provinces were starting to feel a sense of crisis. They began stockpiling supplies, leading to shortages of goods, especially food.

On the downside, the inability to meet citizens' needs led to more news reports, making the situation even more chaotic. Additionally, the news of thousands of deaths from earthquakes and tsunamis abroad further fueled fears of impending doom. Overall, the situation was getting more and more tumultuous.

Lei Zheng and Lei Lang were glued to the news on their tablet, awestruck by Lei Xiao's actions. Considering where they had stored the goods, Lei Zheng couldn't help but worry:

"That place is so close to the supermarket. Won't it be discovered? What if the police conduct a thorough search and try to recover the stolen goods? From those crime-solving shows I've seen, there are countless methods for tracking down culprits. It feels quite risky; we might get caught."

Lei Lang wasn't worried at all and thought Lei Zheng was overreacting. "If you were a cop, would you still focus on investigating when you can't even go outside during the day and there's nowhere to buy anything despite your salary? Besides, it's obvious this is the work of a desperate group of people. They've grabbed their share and gone home; do you think they'll search every house? This isn't peacetime anymore."

"Besides, my second brother is a genius, like a reincarnated Zhuge Liang! Everything is under his control!"

Yao Ziqing, who was napping in the room, heard their conversation in the living room. He nudged Lei Xiao's leg with his toe. "A reincarnated Zhuge Liang, a strategist... Second brother, you must seem like a demon to Si'er."

Lei Xiao felt a tickle from Yao Ziqing's nudge, moved a bit away from him. Yao Ziqing thought his second brother was uncomfortable with the heat and rolled slightly away on the bed.

Later, Yao Ziqing realized it didn't make sense since the room was air-conditioned and they were both accustomed to the heat. So, he rolled back towards Lei Xiao.

Lei Xiao, disturbed by the constant movement and unable to focus on the news, decided to get up. The family planned to make beef sauce, and they had bought a lot of beef beforehand. Most had been made into jerky and stored, while the remaining cuts suitable for hotpot were kept aside. Lei Xiao decided to prepare the beef sauce since he couldn't sleep.

Seeing his second brother up, Yao Ziqing also got up. Hearing Lei Xiao mention making sauce, he perked up. Beef sauce was great, especially with his favorite beef. A bowl of rice with a spoonful of beef sauce would be perfect.

"Second brother! I'll help! I'll do the seasoning, and you chop the meat."

Lei Xiao was happy to let Si'er do anything as long as he didn't cling to him. Public displays of affection were not ideal.
