The heavy rain lasted for a week before finally letting up, giving people a chance to catch their breath. Before the rain, Fang Jinlei had stocked up on a lot of food after hearing Yao Ziqing's advice. For a whole week, they made do with egg soup and pancakes.

Since returning home, Fang Jinlei had been busy taking care of the chickens and had no time to tend to the vegetable garden. Fortunately, cabbage and tomatoes are quite durable. With a few eggs, he could trade for a lot of these vegetables. So, he decided to grow a crop of rice once a year and leave the rest of the land to rest.

Once the rain stopped, Fang Jinlei brought four hens, which hadn't laid eggs due to the thunder, to Yao Ziqing's home. Without electricity, meat couldn't be stored, so they probably had been surviving on vegetables. It was a good chance to get some fresh meat and have a feast.

Yao Ziqing was bathing Xiao Wu, and the splashing water got him soaked. Lei Xiao tossed a towel onto Yao Ziqing's head to help dry him off, then went outside to reinforce a few trees in the yard. Despite the storm, the trees had remained steadfastly rooted in the ground, showing their resilience.

Fang Jinlei placed the bundled chickens in the firewood room in the backyard. The chickens needed plucking and gutting, which was easier to do outside where a quick rinse with water would suffice. Doing it in the kitchen would have been messy and inconvenient.

After a few shakes, Xiao Wu's fur fluffed up and would likely be dry soon. Seeing the King of Chickens bringing his hens to their home, Xiao Wu stuck out its tongue and licked its nose. No surprises here—today's extra meal would be chicken!

Yao Ziqing carried Xiao Wu inside. "No running around! You're clean now, so don't get yourself all muddy!"

The rain had just stopped, and the village was muddy with water pooling in the potholes. One step could soak half your pants. If Xiao Wu ran around, the bath would be wasted.

Xiao Wu barked at Yao Ziqing, then obediently sat on its designated sofa.

"For lunch, shall we have chicken?" Yao Ziqing pondered, "Let's cook one whole, stew another, and keep the last two for later. It might rain again, so we should hurry to buy some more food while it's stopped. We don't know how long it'll last if it starts up again."

Fang Jinlei nodded. "Okay."

Lei Xiao, having finished his work in the front yard, was about to go to the backyard to reinforce a small section of the wooden fence when he saw Fang Jinlei give him a nod.

Fang Jinlei felt that Lei Xiao seemed even more imposing after not seeing him for a week. The strong aura he exuded was quite overwhelming.

Lei Xiao's transformation was thanks to Yao Ziqing. One night, when Yao Ziqing discovered he could store energy in his body and control its flow, he decided to use his energy during an intimate moment. As a result, all of it was absorbed by his second brother.

He was curious about how his brother absorbed the energy, but his second brother couldn't explain it clearly—just that it was absorbed and filled every cell. Though his appearance hadn't changed, his inner strength had become more refined. Even his second brother said he could feel his physical stats had reached an astonishing level, even without machines.

Yao Ziqing didn't mind as long as the energy benefited his brother. He was willing to be the vessel for it. But every time he thought about it, he felt like he was becoming like a furnace from a cultivation novel.

After sharing this thought with his second brother, he found it harder to get up the next morning. Even on the first night, he had been full of energy, so it was clear that his second brother had been quite ruthless this time.
