{Cosette}

I patted the seat on the bench beside me implying that Gavroche should sit. He obeyed. He looked at Gabrielle and smiled. Someone had a little crush. Gav and Gab, oh I would love to see that! Gabrielle would have a fit if I said anything though....

"Gavroche, what have you been doing all of these years?" I asked him. He directed his attention away from Gabrielle and back to me. I could see Gabrielle was thankful for that.

"Things got bad as soon as you were gone. Been on the streets since I was four. Éponine is of course always looking out for me whenever she can. Azelma tries to help, but you know how she is. Courfeyrac is the best though. He lets me live with him and Marius. Éponine fancies Marius y'know. Don't tell her I told ya so!" he said letting me in on the details of his life.

I had missed him so much over the years. I missed the blonde headed boy with light blue eyes who the Thérnardiers never loved properly. Never would love. He was a sweet kid. His eyes were the same light blue, and they were filled with happiness despite everything depressing in his life. His blonde hair which was practically non-existent when I had known him was now in a shaggy way. He wore old filthy clothes like his jacket that looked like it was made of rags. His jacket was a navy blue color, but looked gray towards the top. His pants were gray with thin white stripes.

"I'm sorry," I replied sadly. I felt like I had something to do with his life on the streets. "What's the patch for?"

"I'll show ya! If you can run through a crowd? Up for it?" he asked.

"I can't run though!" I shouted in protest. I never was fast or quick like Gabrielle. In my defense though, Gabrielle and I both had our depressing childhoods. Gabrielle's depression was her life on the streets living as a simple thief, mine was my days working as a domestic slave for the Thérnardiers.

"Oh come on Cosette! You've gotta see! I want you to know about it!" he begged.

"I'll go with you," Gabrielle replied quietly from the corner. "I'll tell Cosette all about what I see. Can you tell me the section of Saint Michele we're in first though?" she asked.

"Near Café Musain is where we're headin'! Can ya run?" he asked Gabrielle eyeing her suspiciously.

"Raised in the Saint Michele streets," she replied.

"Me too!" Gavroche shouted happily. He was excited that Gabrielle was like him.

"We can start a club then!" Gabrielle replied to the boy teasingly. He giggled.

"Come on then!" he shouted. He jumped through the window and onto the cobblestone streets.

"You are not jumping out of the window are you?" I asked Gabrielle.

She shrugged, "Saint Michele kid."

I rolled my eyes and watched as she jumped out the window after Gavroche.

Once they were both on the street, Gavroche smiled up to Gabrielle. She wasn't much taller than him I had to admit. He held his arm out and she looped her arm in his.

"This way mademoiselle," Gavroche said to her. He looked up at her still smiling. He was like a little gentleman. He definitely had a crush on her. I couldn't help, but feel a little jealous I mean after all I met the little boy first!

"Oh merci monsieur," Gabrielle replied smiling down at Gavroche.

He turned, still having their arms linked together, and started to lead her away. She stole me a quick glance that showed how she thought the little boy was amusing. I rolled my eyes and smiled at her, trying to stifle my laughter.
