I kissed Gabrielle. I couldn't think of anything else to do. If I hadn't been completely clear on how I felt for her before, it was out of the bag now.
I pulled away from the kiss to see her eyes closed. Then she looked up at me.
"Will you please stay?" I ask her.
I'm not sure why she must go. She changed just so suddenly. One minute we were having fun the next she was saying she had to leave. My heart was beating fast. I didn't know if she could tell. I didn't know if it was because of the kiss, or because I was worried that she might leave me.
"I can't," she replied helplessly. I could see tears threatening to fall from her pale blue eyes. She sounded hopeless. She sounded as if it was something that had to be.
"Please? Why can't you?" I whisper to her. She said Javert would catch them. Why would Javert care about them though?
"Javert he'll find us," she replied again. She stared into my eyes directly. She looked weak. She looked afraid. She looked vulnerable. She looked so unlike herself.
"Just stay with me please," I tried begging her once more. She had to. The revolution was coming, I couldn't lose her. I'd be losing too many friends too soon I couldn't lose her as well. "Please, mademoiselle."
"I'll have to tell my father immediately," she said. "I'll stay for at least today though."
I smiled. "Merci! Mademoiselle, merci!" I near about shouted. I kissed her cheek. I hadn't thought about it and I was about to apologize for it. She brought her hand and touched my cheek. She smiled at me.
I leaned down to her and kissed her once more. Electricity. It was amazing. Kissing her. Holding her in my arms. I knew that she might've loved me too. There were sparks flying through the air all around us. I could feel them. It was electric. Her touch spread a jolt of energy through my whole body. I loved her. I knew I did.
I pulled away once more. I didn't want to go too far. Didn't want to over step any boundary.
"I have to warn my father," she said. She made no movement though. She didn't try to go anywhere.
"This way mademoiselle," I say. I don't try moving either. I hold her for a few minutes longer.
"We should get going," I say. She nods. I hold my arm out and she immediately takes it. I was glad the jeweler hadn't been inside the room.
"So, what are we now?" I asked her. She looked up at me, unsure.
"We'll have to see when I'll be leaving first," she said.
I looked over at her. You could probably see the disappointment plain on my face. She turned away and closed her eyes.
"Y'know a revolution is happening?" I asked her. She had said she already knew about it. How much did she know?
"Yes," she replied slowly and sadly.
"Y'know I'll be fightin' then," I say. She just kept her eyes closed. I wanted to tell her more about it, but I wouldn't do that to her. It looked like it hurt her. She didn't like the idea of me fighting.
We walked on for a while in silence. Then she looked up at me, her expression was worried.
"Why are you fighting?" she asked. Her tone was barely a whisper.
"I have to," I replied.
"That's why I have to go. I can't be here dealing with this 'revolution'! I can't lose you," she said. It was hardly a whisper. I doubted she wanted me to hear the last part.
