Sprinting as fast as he could without being thought of as crazy obviously wasn't the best idea in practice, because even though he was now safe and sound in the parking lot, he was there before Jisung.
He'd failed to remember that Jisungs last period class was directly across campus, and now he was stood alone in a quiet carpark on the brink of panic. He could text him, even phone him, but neither of those would make him get there faster. Instead, he decided to just wait, leaning against the brick wall next to the metal doors with his hands in his pockets, pulling and ripping the seams inside.
Eventually, his head snapped to the exit as he heard the loud clunk of the handle being pushed, the door opening quickly afterwards. He crossed his fingers, hoping that it was Jisung walking through that door, and once the person emerged from behind the metal and frantically looked around for something, he knew it was.
"Jisung," He murmured, his gaze falling to the ground beneath them once he had met his eyes. The voice he heard wasn't the same one that had spoken to the boys in class earlier, it wasn't unwavering, it was strained and quiet like he was about to cry.
He heard Jisung walk closer, the doors closing loudly behind him as he kneeled slightly to get a look at his face. "Jinnie?" He stood again, the unshakeable look of concern yet again lying across his features. "Are you okay?"
Hyunjin pushed himself up from the wall, removing his hands from his pockets and instead flinging them around Jisungs shoulders whilst burying his head in his neck. He felt him stumble back slightly at the sudden impact, but arms wrapped around his torso almost immediately after he had regained balance.
Even though it was mildly painful to talk, Hyunjin had to get away from the building, so with a sore whisper he tried his best to ask Jisung how he got to school in the morning.
"I took Minhos car, do you want to go now?" He asked, voice muffled by Hyunjins hair. He nodded quickly, exaggerating his movements perhaps more than necessarily called for, but he needed to get his point across in a way that didn't involve speaking out loud. "Okay, yeah, we can go now, c'mon."
They pulled away from eachother, though Jisung kept a hand hovering against Hyunjins back as they took a shortcut over the grass. He could tell from his shakey breathing that he was trying hard to keep himself together, and he'd do whatever he could to make him feel even just slightly better.
He only left his side once he was secure in the passengers seat, and even then he felt the need to rush to the drivers side like leaving him in the car alone too long would kill him. Without a other word, the car was started and driven swiftly out of the parking lot, moving further and further away from their school each passing second.
"Is there anywhere you'd like you go? We could go back to mine or Minmins first if you'd like, I could even phone Yeji, or Felix." Jisung asked, flicking his gaze between the road in front of them and Hyunjin beside him. His head scavenged through ideas of how to help, but despite how close they were, it was rare he ever came to him this upset and in need of help, nevermind sharing ways he can help.
Hyunjin shook his head, hands messing with the sleeves of his jacket as his eyes stayed locked onto his knees. "Early dinner?" He whispered, barely turning his head in Jisungs direction. He was in desperate need of some kind of distraction, but putting the radio on would be too loud and focusing on the view outside the window would only provoke him to continue thinking, so the only solution his mind could think of was some form of conversation.
Nodding, Jisung quickly typed in the location of the retail park into the GPS as they slowed to stop at a red light, turning off the voice navigation as he didn't know if that'd irritate Hyunjin. "We can do that, yeah. Where were you thinking?"
