So Sweet And So Bitter

"That basil chicken was the most delicious thing I've eaten in a while, I can't stop thinking about it" Seungkwan says to Vernon as they come walking towards our table.

We agreed to meet for dinner at a restaurant Nanon recommended. Jeonghan, Dk and I have been here for just about five minutes, Seungkwan and Vernon have just come, while Mingyu texted he was gonna be late.

Chanyeong earlier complained how Mingyu's been late a lot lately, which is unusual since he's always been on time.

"How was Bangkok?" Dk asks the two youngest. They've been out visiting the city since morning and they look like they could use a bed, and a shower.

"You have no idea, for lunch I tried this amazing basil chicken stir fry, I'm thinking of going back tomorrow because I can still feel its taste in my mouth."

"Was it that good or is he just exaggerating?" Jeonghan questions Vernon.

"It was good" He answers in a neutral tone as he takes a seat next to me.

"We also tried this dessert, a rice pudding. It's made with coconut milk and it's paired with mango so it was sweet and salty at the same time, it was also slightly crunchy and soo refreshing!" Seungkwan describes the dish while closing his eyes, as if trying to remember, or maybe feel, the taste of it.

I roll my eyes at the way he speaks of it but I smile at his enthusiasm, and he's kind of making me crave all those dishes he's talking about.

"I also bought us elephant pants, I'll give them to you later"

Seungkwan finally sits and we look through the menu since Mingyu told us we could order for him as well. He didn't specify the reason he's not on time and even if I wanted to I wouldn't be able to ask seeing as he texted Jeonghan.

"Are we going to the sauna tonight too?" Dk proposes to Jeonghan, but his question is addressed to the rest of us as well.

"Sure, do ya'll have somewhere to be tomorrow morning?"

"We don't, we finished today's interview and there is just tomorrow's ball left" I answer the oldest.

"Oh right! How did the interview go?" Seungkwan asks me.

"Fine I think, yesterday's dinner helped with the awkwardness. Mingyu did most of the talking, especially with Nanon"

I don't want to sound bitter but I can't help it, even yesterday he kept talking with him and he even complimented him a couple of times. It's not that I feel left out or anything it's just that... yesterday he didn't smile like that to me.

He did talk to me, he did smile to me, but it all felt a bit forced. Or maybe not forced, but it wasn’t as spontaneous as it used to be. But I shouldn't be complaining, it's a miracle he's still speaking to me because if I was him I wouldn't.

"I found out they do a lot of projects together when they get paired as actors. Ohm and Nanon only did one but they mentioned others"

"How do they not fall in love?" Dk comments and Seungkwan slightly pushes him.

"It's called acting for a reason. Besides, if it's meant to be, they can fall in love even with only one project"

Unfortunately, it's a difficult concept to grasp for Dk. He's always avoided romance dramas, or at least lead roles in romance dramas, and not just because of this fear of his to live an unrequited love but because he also prefers other roles.

Dokyeom is the type to choose carefully which role to work in. His preference is usually comedy and anything involving comedy, mostly because it's very light and fun to do. Even romance comedies he likes because to him it doesn’t seem serious at all, so it takes away the chance to accidentally fall in love.
