I woke up to what I thought was me shivering but it was just my dad shaking me awake. I groaned as I opened my eyes. "Where's my breakfast?" My dad asked me. I just stared at him like he was stupid. I grabbed my clock from beside my bed and fantasized about throwing the thing at my dad, but instead I just read the time on it. I didn't have to leave the house until 9:30am at least which meant that I didn't want to wake up before 9:00am, but it was currently 7:00am.

"Get something out of the fridge maybe." I told him. That response was met with a slap to the face, so I got up and started cooking him some breakfast. I made the easiest and quickest thing that I could for him and he seemed to be satisfied. I knew better than to go back to sleep so I went ahead and got ready for my day job. My day job was working at the drive in diner, the official job title was a carhop waitress. We were allowed to work on foot but if you could roller skate then you got an extra dollar a hour, so I work on roller skates. I feel like I get more tips that way anyway.

I got ready for my job and put on the uniform which I hated, I felt like it made me look ridiculous. It looked like a Halloween costume rather than something that I was supposed to wear to work. I did my makeup as I usually did for an average day and I decided to curl my hair. I looked like a sad child whose mother dressed them up way too fancy for school picture day.

I left for work soon after I was ready, I didn't feel like being in my dads presence much longer. After getting to work I tied up the laces of my skates and talked with my coworkers for a brief moment about how this uniform makes us all want to quit our jobs.

After working for about a hour the lunch rush was approaching. I skated up to a bright red car around 11:00am and as soon as I saw who was driving the vehicle I stumbled on my skates. The guy driving the car was Dally and he had the other guy that hit on me last night in the passenger seat, in the backseat were two other boys. "Didn't expect to see you again so soon." Dally said through his smile. I gave a small laugh and the guy in the passenger seat hit Dally jokingly on the arm and said, "It's fate Dal." That was met with Dally hitting him on the arm much harder than he did.

Dally smiled and looked me up and down before putting in all 4 people's orders. I went back inside to hand the cooks the tickets. I felt my face getting hot and knew it was noticeable by now because one of my coworkers stopped in their tracks to ask me what had happened out there. I just said that I ran into someone that I knew, I didn't think that I knew Dally but I didn't know how else to explain the situation.

I gave them their food and drinks and eventually went back to collect their trash and give them the bill. I wasn't supposed to throw away their trash but I made an exception. I handed Dally the bill and he said, "When can I take you out? You seem like a busy girl. I'm going to need you to make some time." I smiled at him and thought in my mind of when my next day off was. It also became very obvious to me that he had a huge ego. He just assumed that I would automatically want to go on a date with him. But I guess I can't be too mad about it because I did want to go on a date with him.

"By the way too, I know you don't have a boyfriend." He added on. Even though I had assumed that he didn't believe my lie my face still got hot and I felt embarrassed for having lied to him. "I didn't think that you bought it. I'm off on Saturdays and Sundays." I told him. "Well it is Friday, will you let me take you out tomorrow?" He asked me and I accepted his offer.

I went back into the main building and decided to keep my plans for tomorrow a secret. I didn't want to sound like I was bragging and I had a fear that someone would hear and possibly try and sabotage the thing. I already felt my nerves growing just thinking about the date that I agreed to, "I'm going to hurt him," I thought.

After giving a sufficient amount of time for him to scrounge up the money for him and his friends meals I went back up to the car. He handed me more than needed for the food and I told him and his passengers that I would be right back with their change. I took my time counting out the bills and change for him, mostly because I was bad at math but also because I was overthinking the date that I had agreed to. After I had mostly cleared my mind I went back outside to deliver the change.

I placed the assortment of bills and coins into his hand and he handed it to his friend in the passenger seat who laid the bills out on the dashboard and threw the change into the cup holder. Dally pulled out his wallet and put the bills into it, but he also grabbed another bill out of it. From what I could tell it looked like a 20 dollar bill.

"You thought that I was going to forget to give a tip?" He said. I wasn't expecting a tip from him at all. I don't usually get tips from teenagers or even most young adults. Most of my tips come from nicer adults. Before I could respond Dally put the $20 in my shirt. "See you later doll." He said and drove off in his car leaving me red faced and $20 richer. I couldn't help but like him.
