M I N J I"I have a bitch of a headache; I don't have the patience to tolerate you right now," I groaned, pulling on my own hair as I ignored Haerin, who was laughing at me for no reason.
"Do you remember what happened last night?" she asked, frying eggs. The sizzling sound annoyed the living hell out of me.
"No, but I had a weird dream," I said, opening my eyes as I rested my head on the dining table. "Me, you, and Hanni were walking with our arms linked."
She's haunting me in my dreams too, crazy.
"The thing is," she laughed again, placing clean plates on the table. "That wasn't a dream."
I whipped my head up at her, my eyes wide—but I regretted it very soon. It felt like a stab in the head.
"What do you mean?" I grumbled.
"We ran into Hanni while I was trying to get you home, and yeah, you did some stupid shit," Haerin said, a smile on her face as if she was enjoying all of this. She placed the freshly cooked breakfast on the table before finally taking a seat across from me.
"What did I do?" I asked, nervous about what I could've possibly done. I'm not myself when I'm drunk.
"You fell on Hanni, said that it was a shame you lost her to Guwon, asked if her husband's penis was small, and rambled on about other stupid shit I can't even remember," Haerin said in one breath.
I cringed, hiding my face with my hair as I hit my head on the table repeatedly. "That is so embarrassing. Oh my."
"Eat up," Haerin said, ignoring the five stages of grief I was going through. I saw Hanni again, but I was drunk. Wonderful, isn't it?
I shook my head, forcing myself to calm down. I turned on my phone, my eyes widening as soon as I saw the time.
Shit. It's half past nine. I have to be at the clinic by ten.
I sprang from my seat, running toward my room to grab my scrubs, putting them on in a hurry.
"Wait! Where are you going?" Haerin asked.
"To work. I'm going to be late," I said, hurriedly throwing all of my stuff into my bag before combing my hair with my hand. Not to flex, but it was silky like that.
"At least eat something," Haerin said, watching me move from one corner of the apartment to the other.
"Can't. I'll grab a coffee from some café," I responded, rushing out of the door, not waiting for a reply.
I ran over to the elevator, impatiently pushing the button, just for it to come down a few seconds later, and thankfully, no one was inside. I probably looked like shit right now.
I pushed the button for the parking lot, glancing at my wristwatch time and again.
The time was ticking away. My colleagues are so going to snitch on me to Doctor Lee. Why did the Busan hospital have to assign me with them? Ugh. I wish I was in another clinic where most of my old classmates went.
The elevator doors dinged open, making me rush out, looking impatiently for my car.
There it was, my baby. I smiled, opening the doors with my car keys to my new BMW. Yes, crazy, right?
Okay, I didn’t buy it entirely myself. My brother got it for me for my birthday, but not as a gift. He made me pay for it by writing his emails and working alongside him for a month.
But it was worth it. It's nice having a ride for myself after all those years of borrowing my brother's car.
I sighed, making myself comfortable in the leather seat as I fixed my hair again in the rearview mirror before starting the engine and taking the car out of the underground parking.
