M I N J I"Come on, love, I promise it tastes fine," I laughed, holding up a chopstick full of boiled vegetables toward Hanni.
She shook her head stubbornly, pursing her lips and turning away from the food. "No way, I’m not eating that."
"Pham Hanni, behave," I said, trying to sound stern, but I couldn’t help the sigh that escaped me as I slumped down beside her.
We had been moved to a private room for the night since Hanni needed to stay under observation until she was discharged.
"I don't want vegetables," she whined, crossing her arms like a petulant child and nudging my hand away.
I took a deep, calming breath, putting the bowl of food down on the table, and tied my hair up into a messy bun.
"Listen, it’s good for you. If you want to recover quickly, you need to eat soft foods and more vegetables. That unhealthy diet of yours isn’t helping at all," I said, trying to keep my tone light, even though I was starting to get a little frustrated. I folded my arms and gave her a look, waiting for her to respond.
Hanni kept her head down, pouting like a kid being told off. After a few moments, she finally nodded slowly, like she was giving in to some monumental defeat. I had to stop myself from laughing at how adorable she looked.
I smiled, stepping closer to the bed. "Okay, what do you want to eat then?" I asked, knowing she’d already planned out her answer.
Her face lit up with a mischievous smile, and she looked at me with those big hopeful eyes, clearly thinking she’d won. "Am I allowed to have kimchi stew?"
I couldn’t help but laugh. "Fine, but I’ll make sure they go easy on the spice. Too much spice isn’t good for you right now."
She was just about to start celebrating when I added quickly, "But you’re still eating the vegetables first."
Her expression dropped in an instant. "What? That's not fair!" she whined, sulking as she crossed her arms again.
I raised an eyebrow, folding my arms as well. "It’s completely fair. Vegetables first, then you get your stew. That’s the deal.
Hanni huffed dramatically, clearly not happy, but after a moment of glaring at me, she finally sighed and gave in. "Fine, I’ll eat them. "
I chuckled, leaning down to kiss the top of her head. "That’s my girl."
I couldn’t help but smile as Hanni grudgingly picked up the chopsticks, poking at the boiled vegetables as if they were the enemy. She glanced up at me, pouting, clearly hoping I’d let her off the hook.
"Don’t give me that look," I teased, sitting back down next to her, leaning on the side of the bed.
Hanni narrowed her eyes at me but finally lifted a piece of the vegetable to her lips. She chewed slowly, her expression exaggerated.
"Oh, come on. It’s not that bad,"
"It’s terrible," she muttered, swallowing the bite like she’d just taken medicine.
I reached over and tucked a strand of hair behind her ear. "You’re being such a baby."
Hanni glared at me, "I’m not a baby," she mumbled, leaning into my touch despite her complaints.
"Sure, you’re not," I teased. "But a very stubborn baby at that."
Her eyes suddenly sparkled with something, and before I could react, she grabbed a bite and quickly brought it toward my mouth. "Here, you try it,"
