M I N J I"Good morning, lesbian. Is Hanni with you?" Haerin asked over the phone as I rubbed my sleepy eyes.
"Why would Hanni be with me?" I groaned, shutting my eyes so the morning light peeking through the curtains wouldn’t burn a hole in them.
"Alright, whatever. Do you know what tomorrow is?" Haerin asked, her voice filled with excitement.
I sighed, pushing the blanket off of me to sit up, trying to really think about what it could be.
"It’s Saturday?" I said, confused.
Haerin scoffed. "And?"
"It’s the weekend?"
"You dumb fuck. Did you seriously forget?" Haerin yelled.
"Why? What is it?" I asked, getting up from the bed.
"It’s my wedding!" Haerin shouted, causing my eyes to widen.
Shit.
I'm supposed to be the bridesmaid.
"Oh, I definitely remembered. I was just messing with you," I laughed awkwardly, hoping she wouldn’t catch on.
"Me and my soon-to-be wife expect you and Hanni to be in Seoul a day earlier. So, today," Haerin said matter-of-factly.
"Kang, I have a job," I said, walking out of my bedroom and heading to the kitchen to prepare a light breakfast.
"Seriously, Minji? How many years have you known me? Wait, let me count—one, two..." Haerin's voice trailed off for a moment. "Shit, my math sucks. Anyway, we were sixteen, and now we’re in our thirties!"
What happened to the nerd I knew?
I nearly choked on the water I was drinking. "Hey, I am not in my thirties. We’re literally twenty-three."
"That’s beside the point. You and Hanni. The hotel we're staying at. Today. And I know you’re free these days, so shut up and come to Seoul," Haerin said before ending the call, not giving me a chance to reply.
I guess we’re packing for Seoul.

"A large matcha?" the cashier asked, and I gave her a small nod.
This was the café I assumed Hanni often visited. I was here, hoping to catch a glimpse of her. Knowing her routine, she was usually out for a walk around this time.
And to my not-so-surprising surprise, Hanni walked in.
Hanni walked in through the door, dressed in her usual casual style—a loose button-up shirt, tucked slightly into her dark jeans, with her hair pulled back loosely. She always looked effortlessly beautiful.
Our eyes locked, and we smiled at the same time, almost as if the world slowed down for that brief moment.
I excused myself from the counter as the barista started preparing my order and walked toward her.
"Morning," I said, still smiling like an idiot. Despite everything, it felt like I was one step closer—like something was still the same between us.
Hanni gave a small nod. "Did you get their order yet?"
"If you mean being forced to arrive in Seoul a day before their wedding, then yes," I laughed as we walked to an empty table and took our seats.
Hanni sighed, resting her cheek on the palm of her hand as she looked at me. "I don’t want to travel."
