Walking back home with four expensive clothes in your hands which you didn't pay for feels illegal. This is exactly what Ningyi was feeling the moment she reached home as Jaixu dropped her off after the small dinner they had together.
She just stood beside her bed and looked at the four expensive looking paper-bags that had the logo printed in gold colours that were lowkey shining under the light which screams money.
Ningyi shook herself and decided to ease her mind by taking shower and doing her small little nightcare routine but even when she tried to forget the little details that happened or the incident that took place earlier were playing in her mind like those in kdramas where the female lead has the certain flashback.
She took the bags and immediately kept it inside her closet properly in order to not spoil it and roll on her bed trying to forget whatever happened during the whole shopping. From his invitation to his small gaze that had stars when his eyes landed on her ───
"Lan Ningyi! Stop! Stop!"
She buried her face in the pillow and let out a silent-scream. She threw her fist in the air, punching it as if something was there that could be punched. Her small actions were abruptly stopped when a notification came and she checked her phone which was from the senior manager.
"Ningyi, you will be accompanying Boss Duan for his conference to Nanwu since the organizers have prepared a short conference for the graphic designers and the company decided to let you take this chance. Get yourself prepared. The flight will be day after tomorrow, 9am in the morning which means you'll be reporting at the airport around 7am. Goodluck!"
Ningyi let out a screech but immediately shut herself knowing that her neighbours will be asleep at this hour and she didn't want random cops to show up at her door for noise complaints. She double checked the message and immediately forwarded it to her best friend who didn't waste a second and immediately forward with a winky face.
"Win his heart during the conference. From matching dress to conference? Hmm.. It's a sign Xiao-Yi, get him!"
But this wasn't the answer that Ningyi was looking for. She wasn't sure if the heavens were really giving her signs or either just trying to make her look like a fool? She just sighed and replied with a short gratitude message to the senior and slept off. No matter how hard or stressed she is, sleep always gets her or maybe she wasn't stressed enough?

"Xiao-Yi, you better go home now and start packing up. You'll be there for almost a week so better pack properly" Xinyu, her team leader came over with a small packet of red ginseng tonics in her hand and handed one to the girl sitting in front of the computer.
Ningyi checked the clock and saw that she could go home as she needed to prepare for her stuff tomorrow. She took the small tonic and gave a smile to the senior who gave a thumbs up to her and went towards her seat as she distributed the tonics to all the staffs around.
She turned off the computer after saving a draft of the new hero that she was working on and started packing her things. Xia Wanting, Ningyi's workmate sighed loudly and turned towards Ningyi with a lazy smile "Xiao-Yi, enjoy your trip there and do bring us some sweets from Nanwu"
Ningyi smiled and nodded "Don't worry Wanting-jie, I will never forget it! Work hard! See you soon"
The two girls exchanged a small hug and she walked out of the office where the orange hue painted the sky and the air felt fresh which was something unexpected knowing that the city air is never this fresh.
"Xiao-Yi"
She turned around and saw the man who made her feel restless walking up to her "You're going back now?"
"Yes Boss"
"Alright. I'll come and pick you up around 6:30am since we will need at least half an hour to reach the airport"
"Ah?"
She didn't expect her boss to offer such a huge thing. Picking her up from home ? For a young girl like Ningyi, it's just impossible to not fall for such personality and if Jiaxu keeps on showing such gestures ─── she might loose her rationality and riot.
"It's alright Boss, I can come by myself ───"
"Don't worry. I will be there to pick you up. Sleep early okay? Travel safely"
Jiaxu patted Ningyi's head and entered the company leaving Ningyi frozen with feet glued on the ground. Her eyes were wide and the heartbeat was bouncing like crazy. She slowly brought her hand to her head where Jiaxu just patted her and touched it like she was trying to function and process what just happened.
Meanwhile, Jiaxu walked away after letting his intrusive thoughts win. He had his hand inside his pocket acting like it was nothing but his heartbeat and the blush on his cheeks didn't give him justice at all.
The moment he reached his office, he broke his character and started pacing back and forth while looking at his hand, then remembering how he patted Ningyi's head earlier.
"What's wrong with you Duan Jiaxu? You're becoming outrageous!"
His intrusive thoughts have been winning over him ever since the day when he saw Ningyi getting drunk all and when he saw her cooking those dishes and everything. He was not sure of what to feel but he wouldn't lie that he was indeed charmed by the younger lady.
Jiaxu is known for being a little narcissistic and being a flirt but in presence of Ningyi, he can't help but bring out his gentle and caring side ─── like he wanted to pamper her and shower her with gifts and loves. As much as it sounded weird, it didn't sound that weird in another sense again.
