In the dimly lit store room, Gurvinder ji stood with his back turned, tension evident in his posture. The creak of the door opening made him stiffen. Without turning around, he spoke in a low, urgent voice, "Aagaye tumlog? Kitni der kardi? Agar koi uth jata toh? Kisi ko pata toh nahi chala ki tum log yahan aarahe ho?"
A collective "Nahi" echoed through the room, breaking the silence.
Gurvinder ji turned to face the newcomers, revealing Ayaan and Shehnaaz's chachi standing there. The atmosphere crackled with tension as Shehnaaz's chachi, her face twisted in anger, unleashed her frustration. "Aap toh badi badi baatein karte the ki, ye karenge wo karenge, sab kuch sahi ho jayega? Kidhar hua sab sahi? Haan, kahan hai aapki muh boli betu, haan?" she demanded, her voice rising with each question.
Gurvinder ji tried to maintain his composure, responding calmly, "Maine usko emotional blackmail toh kar diya. Ab iske aage ka discussion ke liye hi toh bulaya hai maine ki hum teeno milke discuss karein."
The tension in the room was palpable as Gurvinder ji addressed Ayaan, his voice tinged with regret. "Agar wo Sidharth tumhara past beech mein nahi laaya hota aur ye Shehnaaz ko nahi leke jaata toh saari property humari hoti," he said, bitterness lacing his words.
Ayaan, clearly frustrated, shot back, "Agar aapne bhi uss din thodi chalakhi dikhayi hoti jab uss raat hum teeno aise hi baat kar rahe the, toh hum aaj tak iss tarah bhatke huwe nahi hote, samjhe aap."
Flashback:
Years ago, when Shehnaaz was just a year old, the family had traveled to Punjab to visit her paternal grandparents, Dada ji and Dadi ji. The visit had seemed peaceful, but beneath the surface, dark intentions brewed.
One night, Sukh ji, Shehnaaz's father, woke up feeling parched. Finding his water bottle empty, he quietly made his way to the kitchen near the storeroom to refill it. As he approached, he overheard hushed voices. Curiosity piqued, he paused, realizing it was Gurvinder ji and Shehnaaz's chachi conspiring together.
They spoke in low tones about their sinister plan to rob Sukh ji of all his wealth, wealth he had already transferred to his wife, Pammi ji. Their twisted scheme included kidnapping little Shehnaaz to ensure they could extort everything from him. As Sukh ji processed the horror of what he was hearing, his grip on the water bottle loosened, and it fell to the ground with a loud thud.
The sudden noise alerted Gurvinder ji and chachi to Sukh ji's presence. They turned, shock and fear flashing across their faces. Sukh ji, his eyes blazing with fury, confronted them. "You bloody snake! You tried to kidnap my daughter, haan? You will kidnap my daughter? Tu paise maang leta mere se, main khushi khushi dedeta, par tune bharosa toda hai mera. You are a cheater!"
"Toh thik hai? Tu mujhe paise dega na? Phir de, kal tak 1 crore chahiye. Nahi toh teri beti ko mai uda dunga... ha ha ha ha ha!" Gurvinder ji's voice was cold and threatening as he made his demands. He stared at Sukh ji with a twisted smile, clearly enjoying the fear in his eyes. Beside him, Shehnaaz's chachi stood with a smug look on her face, nodding in agreement with every word.
Sukh ji knew he had no choice but to agree. "Thik hai, kal shaam 5 baje gaon ke agle hisse aajana. Ghar mei nahi de sakta, Pammi dekh legi," he replied, trying to keep his voice steady even though his heart was pounding with fear and anger.
The next day, Sukh ji woke up early, the weight of Gurvinder ji's threat heavy on his mind. He headed to the bank as soon as it opened, nervously requesting to withdraw the large amount of money. The bank teller informed him that it would take about two hours to prepare such a big withdrawal. Frustrated but with no other option, Sukh ji returned home, keeping a close eye on Shehnaaz the entire time, his mind racing with worry.
Finally, after what seemed like forever, Sukh ji went back to the bank and collected the money. His hands trembled slightly as he counted the notes, realizing the gravity of what he was about to do. With a heavy heart, he made his way to the meeting place where he would hand over the money to Gurvinder ji and Shehnaaz's chachi. The entire time, he couldn't shake the feeling that something terrible was about to happen.
After handing over the money, Sukh ji felt a brief sense of relief, thinking he had done what was necessary to protect his family. But as he was driving back home, disaster struck. A large truck came out of nowhere, crashing into his car and sending it spiraling off the road. The car tumbled down a steep cliff, and Sukh ji's world went black.
When he finally regained consciousness, he found himself in a hospital bed, surrounded by the worried faces of villagers who had rescued him from the wreckage. The doctors told him that he had been lucky to survive, but his injuries were severe, and his condition was critical. As he lay there, weak and in pain, he overheard something that made his blood run cold.
From the next room, he heard the familiar voices of Gurvinder ji and Shehnaaz's chachi, and they were discussing their real plan. It turned out that the one crore rupees was just the beginning. Their ultimate goal was to steal everything that Sukh ji owned. They had assumed all his money was in Pammi ji's name, and that after marrying her, they could easily get their hands on it. But what they didn't know was that Sukh ji had already transferred all his wealth into Shehnaaz's name, to secure her future. This meant that no matter what they did, they couldn't get the money unless Shehnaaz willingly gave it to them.
So Gurvinder made a plan to trap Pammi in his love game and married her after some years but over those years, he realized their mistake, The money was not with Pammi ji at all , it wa all transferred to Shehnaaz. Gurvinder ji and Shehnaaz's chachi quickly came up with a new plan. They decided that the only way to get control of the money was to marry Shehnaaz off to Ayaan, who was Shehnaaz's chachi's own son, while she was still very young. They thought that by doing this, they could eventually take control of the property and wealth.
What made this even more shocking was the revelation that Shehnaaz's chachi was not even her real aunt. She was just a family friend who had become close to the family over time and had managed to stay with them, eventually becoming a permanent member of the household. So they decided to announce Ayaan's and Shehnaaz's engagement while they were 7 years old . So that Shehnaaz knows her roots and won't slips out of their hand.
