Ch 151:

Director Lee Jung-hoon's "Daman" is a film that targets individuals who, despite the severity of their crimes, receive disproportionately light sentences, to the point where the phenomenon is dubbed the "Daman law." The plot revolves around a victim, enraged by the low sentence and the unyielding appeal, who decides to personally punish both the judge, who is connected to the criminals and gangsters, and the criminal.

The protagonist, who seems to have a complicated backstory, does not hesitate to break the law. The "bad guy catching the bad guy" trope has become so overused that it has almost turned into a cliché.

"This perfectly fits public tastes. With its release next month and no major competition, it'll probably be a solid success."

"Wow, for a new director, the direction is quite impressive..."

"It's predictable but fun? Why is it fun?"

Reporters, who had initially been indifferent, found themselves watching the screen with growing interest as time passed. The film showcased thrilling action, competent actors with strong performances, and characters who conveyed their narratives with just a few lines.

(Why are you here?)

(I know someone.)

Midway through the film, an unexpected character made an appearance. When the protagonist opened the door to a shabby warehouse, the lavish and antique interior inside contrasted with the outside.

(What the...?!)

Distracted by this, the woman swallowed nervously as a knife flew past her ear and lodged itself into the wall.

[Since you're here, could you make a special appearance? We happen to have a suitable role...]

[Me?]

[We should make the most of everything we have. You invested a lot after all.]

Initially flustered, Lee Jung-hoon eventually spoke rather boldly. Yu Yeon-seo, feeling playful, smirked.

[I'm expensive, you know?]

[Well, if the movie does well, it benefits you too, right?]

[Huh, as if it'll succeed because of my cameo... What do I have to do?]

The more successful "Daman" became, the more Yu Yeon-seo stood to gain. There was no reason to refuse.

(Jay, you're overdoing it.)

(Are you the only one who can?)

On the nation's largest screen, Yu Yeon-seo's handsome face filled the frame, eliciting gasps of admiration from the audience. On-screen, his character Jay was dressed like a nouveau riche, wearing a flashy patterned shirt and a gold necklace.

Though the story was already strong, the unexpected cameo added even more impact. Moving gracefully, as if dancing, Jay approached a woman staring him down behind the protagonist.

(Is that your partner?)

(...That's a rough way to introduce yourself.)

(Oh, sorry about that. Was it my fault you got picked?)

Jay, with a sympathetic expression, took the knife the woman had pulled out, flipping and twirling it in the air. Oddly, it seemed to stick to his hand like a magnet. Despite the briefness of his actions, he exuded an overwhelming presence.

The director had included this scene on a whim after watching Yu Yeon-seo play around with a prop during his waiting time for the cameo.

(Why are you here? Still feeling the pain in your side when it rains?)
