Ch 209:
In response to the sudden question, Chairman Yoo looked at my grandson with a suspicious gaze, wondering why he was acting up again.
"Well, wouldn't you rather play golf with other retired old men?"
"You've always played golf. It must get boring if you do it all the time."
"What are you trying to say?"
Pressed to speak quickly, Yoo Yeon-seo cleared his throat and got to the point.
"Grandpa, how about filming a variety show with me?"
"What?"
Everyone at the table looked at Yoo Yeon-seo with surprised expressions. A variety show? Could it be the same kind of variety show we know? For Chairman Yoo?
"Yes, a variety show?"
"Doesn't it sound like fun? We could go on a trip together or spend a month living in the countryside. There are a lot of variety shows like that these days."
He knew that the chairman had been keeping an eye on his activities through Cha Yoon-ho. Moreover, he seemed to be quite familiar with modern terms. He had subtly hinted at wanting to travel with his family after retiring, so this seemed like a perfect opportunity. It's just that a few cameras would be added to the trip.
"Why would I go on something like that?"
"You'll be lonely after you retire."
"Lonely? I have plenty to do."
Yoo Yeon-seo observed the changes in his grandfather's expression. The slight lift in his cheekbones suggested he wasn't in a bad mood. Rather...
'He seems to like it but is playing hard to get?'
How should he push so that his grandfather would readily accept the idea? As he pondered, Yoo Geon-min cautiously spoke up.
"Dad, you should give it a try. It sounds like it would be fun..."
"Only you would think it's fun. What can old people do on a show?"
Chairman Yoo continued to grumble. Yoo Yeon-seo flashed a smile at his father.
"Dad, you have to be on it."
"Oh?"
Yoo Geon-min grinned widely. He also wanted to appear on a show with his son. When his mother had asked for a similar thing, Choi Yoo-jin had widened her eyes, asking, "Me too?"
Chairman Yoo clicked his tongue disapprovingly. So, it wasn't just a suggestion for him but a plan to involve the whole family? He was sulking.
"Why would someone who's soon to be the chairman go on a variety show?"
"There are trustworthy people around. It wouldn't hurt to be away for a few days, would it?"
"Ah, the company is running smoothly."
Chairman Yoo rubbed the back of his neck. But he knew this was all a pretense. It seemed like he was sulking because he wasn't the only one being invited... Perhaps it was because of his age, but even a grandfather who usually wasn't easy to read was now clear to him.
"Hyung! Hyung! Can I join too?"
"Don't make a fuss at the dinner table."
"Yes."
So far, it was Chairman Yoo who had been the loudest at the dinner table. However, Park Sun-woo remained quietly seated with a twinkle in his eye. He seemed eager to join in on Yoo Yeon-seo's plans.
