(Day 514)

They gawked at the new blonde server like she was an alien. And she was pretty, Stan had to give her that, but they were all behaving as if they'd never seen an attractive woman before.

He rolled his eyes. He had been rolling his eyes the moment she stepped foot in the kitchen. Even Kyle had something to say about the new girl, saying her look was "exotic". What the hell did that even mean?

Stan especially didn't appreciate how she immediately turned her attention towards Kenny. She twirled her blonde locks around her finger as she asked about things on the menu, and stood way too close to him - he seemed generally uncomfortable, though. That fact gave Stan a little hope.

Standing in the background of everyone and everything, Stan wrapped his arms around himself; he felt exposed, as if his insecurities were walking around in human form. It stung when she turned to walk away from Kenny with a wink, and he had to force his eyes away from her ass.

Maybe he'd be interested if I was a fucking girl.. Stan dug his nails into the skin of his arms. Their stupid, perky titties.. Man, I'm doomed! What do I have?! Got nothing but a regular ass, and a bad attitude. Goddamnit..

Kenny noticed his demeanor, and tilted his head with questioning. Stan couldn't take it though, he couldn't hide the pain of reality crushing down on his head relentlessly. He left around the corner, deciding to do his job for once. Fuck everything else.

He kept to himself all day, too. The whispers about her were loud. Stan wanted to put his head through a fucking wall, and he still had hours left of his shift. He kicked himself for picking up a double, despite the fact that he needed the money, a migraine was developing behind his eyes.

The pressure in his head built into the night up until he was doing his closing duties. The new girl approached him, as bubbly as she had been the entire day, her hands behind her back politely.

Stan tried to relax. "Oh, hey." He offered her with a weak smile.

Not noticing his mood, especially since she didn't know him, she pointed to the sign behind him: "Hi, Stan.. right? I'm supposed to have you check me out I guess, but I don't think we've met yet! I'm Kelly!"

Stan shook her hand, unable to find a reason to be cruel to her. Just because she was beautiful, that didn't mean she deserved viciousness - he knew better than to behave like that. "Hi, Kelly. Yeah, I'll check you out for the night. What'd they assign you?"

Much to his surprise, they got along famously. It kind of freaked Stan out how easy it was interacting with a woman when he had no interest in her. By the end, he convinced himself he might've made a new friend. She was even a little funny too, and they were both doubled over in laughter at the entrance to the kitchen.

Since he was right there closing his station, Kenny eyed them curiously. He watched Stan more closely, and it nearly gave him pause in the conversation.

Kelly was moving onto something else, however, as she stood on her toes to whisper something into Stan's ear: "You know Kenny?" He hummed, but held his breath, waiting for what he knew was coming from her. "Is he single? Because hot damn! He is sexy, and oh my god, tall! I just wanna climb him, and-"

"No!" Stan yelled accidentally, his vision wavering from the catastrophic stupidity. Shit! "Uh," He started quietly. "H-He's with someone - engaged, actually."

"Hmm." Kelly snapped her head over to Kenny, who was back to wiping down the grill, and smirked. "Engaged isn't married, Stan."

Oh, fuck no! Who the hell does she think she is?! He snapped at his tongue to keep silent still, swallowing his own emotions to try, and maintain the peace. "No, that's my friend, dude. He's taken."
