(Day 623)
"What does she look like?" Stan scanned the crowd at the train station for Karen, his hand sweaty, but unmoving in Kenny's amidst the anxiety.
The other refused to look away from the arriving train coming in from Denver. Kenny bounced from foot to foot excitedly, biting his tongue in anticipation after months of not seeing his only sibling. "Oh, uh, she's pretty short, has brown hair, big, hopeful eyes and- Kar!"
A small, thin girl stepped from the train with only a faded red backpack clung to her shoulder. Her nervous demeanor evaporated at the sight of her brother, a similar smile to Kenny's erupting across her face as she ran through the small crowd to meet him. She jumped into his arms with ease, tears already spilling down her cheeks as they laughed together with relief. He spun her around in a circle as her legs dangled over the floor from the considerable height difference between the two, and despite the fact that they had different hair colors, Stan spotted the McCormick in them both.
After a private reunion, Kenny set her down gently, taking the bag off of her shoulder. Karen's eyes twinkled with admiration as she smiled up at her brother, before she turned her attention to Stan; in general, she was shy, already tucking her hair behind an ear, and avoiding eye contact. He immediately felt protective over her.
"Hi," He started gently, offering a wave. "I'm Stan. I've heard a lot about you, I'm so glad to finally meet you!"
Surprised by his enthusiasm, Karen relaxed a bit. She sent Kenny a knowing grin, too. "H-Hi! Um, nice to meet you, too!" She blushed, rubbing her arms in an attempt to calm her nerves. "Ken has talked a lot about you.."
Kenny beamed at the two of them, placing himself in the middle as they started their walk back towards the truck Stan borrowed from his dad. He grabbed a hand from both of them. "My two favorite people! Kar, you'll like Stan! He likes anime, so you guys have plenty to talk about! Hope you don't mind living with me and my boyfriend. You don't mind, right?"
She giggled into her sweater sleeve. "You kiddin', Ken? I'm thankful." Karen observed the natural way the two exchanged a smile. "You're cute together. He's way better than Tammy."
Stan couldn't help but to chuckle at that. He already really liked her, and just like Kenny, she possessed a certain type of understanding that most people didn't have; she was special, and he already wanted to see her smile more. Wow, I love being a part of Kenny's life. No wonder he's fought so hard for her happiness.
The last few weeks hadn't been exactly simple, despite how happy the three were now. As soon as they decided to move in together, Stan was quick to ask Kyle for help finding another place. That conversation with his best friend had been rough, admittedly, since the ginger wasn't sure who he was going to live with now, but he'd been supportive, nonetheless. Things with him and David were still rocky, yet they were moving forward from a place of surprising immaturity. Kyle decided it would be best if they didn't live together until he was more certain.
Stan figured he shouldn't have been surprised when he ended up moving in with Clyde and Cartman - what other options did he have? Stan felt horrible for uprooting Kyle's life, yet he didn't seem upset with him in the slightest. With Karen coming into the picture, this was much bigger than anything Stan had decided to do before, and it was positively life altering. Honestly, Kyle couldn't think of a better outcome for the two.
With Craig being in rehab, however, Stan felt like some things could still be better. Through all the bullshit, Tweek hadn't left him. Well, to put it more accurately, Tweek hadn't abandoned him to deal with this on his own, but they were technically broken up. Stan couldn't believe how that situation had evolved, it only pushed him to admit to his addiction in therapy. Now, it had been six weeks since he even glanced at a bottle of liquor.
