Three Months Later
Author's Pov
As time passed, it had been three months since Ivy had last spoken to or heard from Armani, causing her mind to spiral into chaos. The initial contact from Armani came when she explained that she was using the substitute nurse's phone, which the nurse had unexpectedly permitted her to use. Ivy was left in a state of uncertainty, unable to discern whether Armani had faced some trouble or if the lack of communication was due to a shift in priorities, leaving no time for her anymore. There was no way that Ivy could even get a hint of what was possibly going on inside the facility. Ivy had no connections, and she was certain Armani didn't want her to go out and make any either, but she didn't know what else to do at this point and, quite frankly, she couldn't endure the silence any longer. Sometimes Ivy wished that Armani had never called her that day and that they had both just waited for each other, because now Ivy felt cornered in the worst way possible.
Not only had she not heard from Armani, but she also hadn't had a proper conversation with her mother since then. Ivy's father, however, wasn't as upset about the situation as his wife. He was disappointed, but he understood that Ivy was a grown woman who would make her own decisions no matter what. He and Ivy kept in contact, and Ivy would get updates about her mother through him. She would send her greetings to her mother through her father's phone instead of simply calling her mother directly, and it was all an absurd situation.
Ivy continued to maintain close contact with Ax, and over time, he had grown quite close to her, ultimately strengthening their friendship. Ivy was grateful to have both him and Raegon by her side at all times. However, they were somewhat skeptical regarding Ivy's feelings and thoughts about Armani. Ivy had been planning to catch this woman, Joy, outside one day to gather at least a little information about what was going on inside the facility.
Obviously, Ivy had no knowledge of this woman's work schedule. The only information she possessed was that the woman was a substitute nurse at the facility and her name, which she had discovered through extensive online research. Additionally, Ivy could admit that the woman was extremely beautiful, and the mere thought of her possibly enjoying herself inside the building with Armani made Ivy's stomach churn. Despite these unsettling feelings, Ivy knew better than to suspect infidelity.
Instead, she tried to focus on the task at hand, gathering as much information as possible to understand what was really happening inside the facility. Ivy had resolved to find an opportunity to approach Joy, hoping that a casual conversation might yield some insights into the inner workings of the place and perhaps ease her own anxieties about the situation.
Ivy knew that this was a new extreme for her because she could potentially get both herself and Joy in trouble. Sharing and receiving information from a patient in a mental facility is illegal, but she had a plan.
Sort of..
"Ivy, baby, I don't think this is a good idea. You know there are cameras all around this building? It's like extra protection for their patients too," Raegon said, glancing at Ivy as she sat in the passenger seat, surveying the dark surroundings. Ivy had even gone as far as getting her windows tinted darker than they already were. She felt that suddenly her car was beginning to look like a fishbowl before her plans were put into action.
