I woke up to the sound of soft footsteps and the smell of fresh coffee wafting through the air. The morning light peeked through the curtains, casting a warm glow around the room.

I blinked a few times, adjusting to the brightness, and reached out to the side of the bed where Lily usually lay. It was empty, but I could hear her moving about in the kitchen.

I stretched out, feeling the slight soreness from the weekend in Austria, but it wasn't too bad. We were back home now, in London, and for the first time in what felt like ages, we didn't have anywhere to be. No schedules, no interviews, no races. Just us.

Throwing the duvet off, I dragged myself out of bed, rubbing my eyes as I wandered toward the kitchen. There she was, standing by the counter, pouring coffee into two mugs.

She was wearing one of my oversized t-shirts, the hem brushing against her thighs, and her hair was still slightly messy from sleep. She hadn't noticed me yet, so I snuck up behind her, wrapping my arms around her waist and pulling her close.

"Morning," I mumbled into her neck, my voice raspy with sleep. I could feel her smile even though I couldn't see her face.

"Morning," she replied softly, leaning back into me. I rested my chin on her shoulder, enjoying the moment. It was rare to have these quiet mornings. No chaos, no rush. Just us. And I loved it.

She handed me a mug, and I took it gratefully, letting the warmth seep into my hands. We stood there for a few moments, just enjoying the stillness.

The silence was comfortable, something I'd come to appreciate more and more with Lily. After a hectic race weekend, this was exactly what I needed.

We spent most of the morning just lounging around, talking about the race in Austria here and there, but mostly just enjoying each other's company. It felt good to switch off, to not have to think about anything else but her and this moment.

Around noon, we made a simple lunch—nothing fancy, just some pasta and salad. We ate together at the kitchen island, laughing and joking about random things. Lily had this way of making even the most mundane moments feel special. The kind of effortless energy that made me feel like everything was alright when I was with her.

After lunch, I sent a quick text to Max, my best mate. It'd been a while since we all hung out, and I figured it'd be nice to have him and Pietro over. We didn't plan anything big, just a casual afternoon. Max and I would probably game for a bit, and the girls could do whatever they wanted.

Max replied almost immediately.

Max F: Be there in 20!

I told Lily, and she smiled, already getting up to clear the plates. "It'll be nice to see Pietra," she said, talking about Max's girlfriend. The two of them had grown close over time, and it was cool seeing them bond.

By the time Max and Pietra arrived, I had my setup ready in the living room for a stream. We greeted them at the door, a bit of banter already flying between Max and me as usual.

The guy couldn't go five minutes without taking the piss out of me. Pietra and Lily hugged, and the girls immediately drifted off into their own world, chatting away as Max and I made our way to the living room.

We fired up the stream, and before long, we were fully immersed in whatever game we were playing. It felt good to kick back and just have some fun without thinking about racing for a change.
