I woke up to the sound of soft breathing beside me, my eyes blinked open, and the first thing I saw was Lily, her face peaceful, a light smile still playing or her lips even in sleep. I couldn't help but smile back, memories from the night before flooding in like the warm morning light fluttering through the curtains.

She was pregnant. My Lily. We were going to have a baby.

The thought hit me again, as it had last night, like a racing car speeding through my mind. The shock had worn off, but the excitement? That was still there, buzzing in my chest like an engine  waiting to rev up.

I couldn't believe it. We were having a baby. I was going to be a dad.

Shifted slightly, trying not to wake her just yet. I wanted a moment to let it sink in, to just lie there and think about how much our lives were about to change. Sure, I've been through a lot...

Formula One races, winning podiums, dealing with the pressure of the sport, but nothing prepared me for this. My mind started racing faster than it did on track.

I imagined holding the little baby in my arms, dressing him or her in tiny McLaren onesies. the thought made me chuckle to myself. I could already see it, our baby crawling around in the garage, surrounded by cars, mechanics, and the hum of engines.

A small groan from Lily broke my thoughts, and I looked over to see her stirring slowly opening her eyes. She's stretched, yawning softly, then turned to me with a smile ⎯ the same one that had made me fall for her in the first place.

"Morning," she said with her voice still husky from sleep.

"Morning, Mum," I teased, watching her eyes widen slightly before she grinned, remembering yesterday's scene.

"Don't start," she said laughing, her hand instinctively moving to her stomach, where our little one was growing. "I'm still getting used to it myself."

I couldn't help myself. The excitement was too much. "Used to it? Babe, we're going to have the cutest kid on the planet. It's gonna have your eyes, your smile... and maybe my ears. But hey, that's not bad, right?"

Lily rolled her eyes, but her laughter was infectious. "Let's hope the baby gets my ears. Yours are too pointed and elf looking..." Lily laughed

I laughed too, feeling lighter than I had in days. "Fair point. But you know what? I'm dressing this kid in McLaren gear from head to toe. Tiny little race suits, baby sized pit crew caps, maybe even a little helmet. Oh, and don't get me started on race days. This baby's gonna be the biggest McLaren fan in history!"

Lily grinned, leaning into me. "You're going to turn the baby into a mini version of yourself, aren't you?"

"Obviously," I said, as if it were the most natural thing in the world. "But with your looks. I mean, can you imagine? A baby with your smile and your dimples? I'm done for. I'll be wrapped around his or her tiny finger."

She sook her head, her hand resting on my chest as she laughed again. "And what about when the baby's old enough to talk? Are you going to teach him or her all your terrible jokes?"

I smirked, reaching out to pull her closer. "Absolutely. I mean, someone's got to carry on the tradition, right? Plus my jokes aren't that terrible. They're...dad worthy."

Lily groaned playfully, pushing me away. "You've already started with the dad jokes, haven't you?"

"Hey, I'm just getting into character," I said, grinning wide. "Gotta be prepared. But seriously... this is insane right? We're going to be parents. How are we going to tell everyone? Like, I still can't believe this."
