Chapter 28: Playing, Capture the Flag

Narrator's POV

"Heroes!" he called. "You know the rules! The creek is the boundary line. Blue team—Camp Half-Blood—shall take the west woods. Hunters of Artemis—red team—shall take the east woods. I will serve as referee and battlefield medic. No intentional maiming, please! All magic items are allowed. To your positions!"

We set our flag at the top of Zeus's Fist. It's this cluster of boulders in the middle of the west woods that, if you look at it just the right way, looks like a huge fist sticking out of the ground. If you look at it from any other side, it looks like a pile of enormous deer droppings.

Regardless, it was a good place to set the flag. The top boulder was twenty feet tall and hard to climb, so the flag was visible like the rules said it had to be, and it didn't matter that the guards weren't allowed to stand within ten yards of it.

"Okay, You guys will be our main attacking force, Your goal is to gather as many hunters as you can into the open"

Percy told a couple of Ares and Hermes' kids.

"Nico, you'd be our scout, Thalia and Silena our main line of defence behind the Stoll brothers."

"And I will be everywhere. I can end the game in 10 seconds, but I want the hunters to see you all in action; they think love is useless and men are below them. Prove them wrong."

Percy causally said, Not knowing his words would be fuel to push themselves past their limit.

______________

The plan to lead the hunters away from their flag and round them up was undoubtedly a good one.

Having Thalia and Silena guard the flag was the best choice; Silena, despite her size and looks, trained the hardest, and Percy had caught her training before; she reminded him of himself... Just without the superhealing.

Her reason for putting herself through all the pain and her reason for moving forward was the love she had for her family.

The hunters insulted her love... The reason she worked harder was that if words couldn't move them, She'd beat the idea of love into their heads.

Why do they say, 'I swore off love' as if love isn't the thing keeping them together?

"Idiots."

She cursed annoyed with a frown on her beautiful face.

While keeping an eye out for any hunter, Till she saw one.

"hehe~"

Her frown vanished, immediately replaced by an attractive smile.

"Zoe is coming"

Thalia, for some reason, had a similar smile on her face; she had been wanting to beat up this old lady.

"Rock paper scissors for who gets to beat her up?"

The two girls were smiling Expectantly.

"Oh?"

The Ares kids tried, But they were knocked out by the collective play of the hunters; Percy didn't blame them; the hunters fought real-life monsters on a daily; most of them were centuries old, and their experiences alone weren't something the average campers couldn't get in this lifetime.

'Mhmm, Should I end the game now? Or should I beat some hunters first?'

Percy wondered while he stepped out of his hiding place; almost immediately, an arrow struck him in the gut... At least it would have if he didn't catch it at the last second
