The next day at school, as Nate and Juliana walked in together, Nate knew he was going to tell Elliot to keep his dirty hands off of her. He couldn't stop thinking about it since she told him about the project they were partners for.
Even into the night, as she slept soundly beside him, cuddled into his hard chest, all he could do was stare at the ceiling in the dark and think about Elliot's annoying smug face, and the fact that unlike everyone else at school, he didn't know that he was not to mess with Juliana.
"What are you thinking about?" Juliana questioned as she took a book out of her locker, getting ready for their first class of the day which they had together.
Nate snapped out of his thoughts and took the book out of her hands to carry to class. "Just about how excited I am for the first bio class of the year." He said sarcastically, although science was actually one of his best subjects, that didn't mean he really enjoyed it.
"You're still going to help me with it this year, right?" Juliana asked, closing her locker.
"That goes without saying." They started walking towards class. She was a smart girl but science was her worst subject. Nate helped her with it every year.
As they were about to turn into the classroom, Nate noticed Elliot out of the corner of his eye, heading in the opposite direction.
"I'll be right back, I forgot something in my locker." Before she could even ask what, Nate took off, wanting to corner Elliot without her.
Elliot was stopped in the nearly empty hallway now, seeming to be looking around for a classroom.
"You need to back the fuck off." Nate growled from behind him, making Elliot turn around quickly and give him a confused look. But before he could say anything, Nate spoke again.
"You know what I'm talking about. I know you were assigned to be partners but do not fucking mess with Juliana in any way or you'll have to deal with me."
It was just the two of them in the hallway now, and Elliot spoke next. "It's just a school thing, and she asked me to be partners anyway."
For once, Nate didn't have anything to say, as he paused realizing what he said - Juliana had asked this dickhead to be partners, it wasn't assigned by the teacher?
"But what, are you guys in a relationship or something? Because I heard that was not the case, that you're just best friends, so maybe you need to relax, sounds to me like she's available." Elliot raised his eyebrows.
Nate grabbed his shoulders and pushed him into the locker with a loud thud, glad that classes were already started.
"All you need to know is that she's mine and if you go near her, I will fucking kill you." Nate snarled at him before releasing his shoulders and stalking back to class, fuming.
