Robin's POV
After packing up and heading to the safe house we decided it was best to stay radio silent with the base for a while.
I refused to accept any new orders, stating we were too busy trying to get back into contact with Ashley, it seemed to piss them off but frankly I didn't take orders from them.
I wasn't lying, I was still trying to get in contact with Ashley, it was my top priority.
As well as trying to gain information on her and how she was doing which was incredibly difficult.
That is, until the attack.
Word spreads fast, and the announcement of Ashley being Damien's mate spreads faster than a wildfire on a summer night.
Especially when she's in critical condition.
I've never been so angry before when hearing that, storming into the living room where the others were watching the news.
They looked equally horrified and angry, especially Sam.
I've never seen the kid look so menacing.
"Did you hear what I heard? It's all over the radio, it's everywhere and every new account is worse than the last" my voice was sharp as I walked over to the TV.
Ashley had been in a coma for a couple days now, Damien had announced her title a few minutes ago.
The attack by rogue wolves and supposedly Rebel members left her in critical condition, gunshot wounds and other injuries.
I'd treated Ashley before but nothing this bad before.
"What, the fuck...did that bitch order to be done...SHE ALMOST KILLED MY SISTER!" Samuel yelled, shooting to his feet. The guy was shaking, fists clenched and face red, his eyes were glossy but he refused to cry.
"Sam, sit down...she's going to be ok" Rose tried to comfort him but he snatched himself away quickly.
"No! No, I cannot calm down! I almost lost her! This is all her fault! She's going to get Ashley killed and we're just sitting here doing nothing! She needs us!" He yelled.
Pacing back and forth pulling at his hair, breathing short and fast.
"Samuel I know you're upset, we all are...trust me if I could punch that bitch right now I would. But Ashley needs us to stay focused as a team, and it's clear now we need to start making our own decisions." I managed to get in front of him so I could slow his pacing.
He needed something else to focus on, and I knew he needed someone to lean on.
I was barely keeping my own boiling anger under control, courtesy of Ashley teaching me her stone facade.
My heart was pounding in my chest and I had to reign in every stray frantic thought trying to spiral out of my control.
"Robin I can't be calm, she's all I have Robin I..." He stuttered, choking back a sob as tears welled in his eyes, making their pretty brown colour look glassy and shaky.
"I can't lose her too" his voice was weak, pained.
Fuck it hurt to see him like this.
I wasn't good with words, not when it was for emotional comfort, I just wasn't good at it.
But Sam and Ashley were family, the closest to siblings I'd ever have.
Sam needed me, he needed comfort.
I grabbed him by his shoulder and pulled his tall bulky frame into a tight hug. He was taller than me, but he was still young, scared.
To me all I could see was that scared skinny teen who followed his sister like a shadow, that scared little boy who thought he'd never be strong. He'd grown so much but I knew deep down he still felt like that powerless 13 year old who lost everything.
