Jungkook shifted slightly, feeling a weight on his chest. "You know," he began, his tone more serious, "I have to admit something. I judged you pretty harshly back in high school."
Jimin's expression turned curious. "Really? How so?"
Jungkook took a deep breath, feeling the heat of vulnerability wash over him. "It was mostly because of you and Yoongi. I liked him before you two got together. I never really understood your relationship, and it made me jealous. I didn't even try to get to know you. I just assumed you were this... guy who swooped in and took my chance away."
Jimin's eyes widened, and he nodded slowly, taking in Jungkook's words. "I get that. I can see how it might have looked from your perspective. It was a confusing time for all of us."
"I just wish I hadn't let that jealousy cloud my judgment," Jungkook continued, his voice sincere. "You don't seem too bad, Jimin. I realize now that you were always quick to take Yoongi's side because you cared about him, and I didn't really give you a chance. I'm sorry for that."
Jimin's expression softened, his smile returning. "It's okay. I appreciate you saying that. I think we both let our feelings get in the way. I was so focused on being with Yoongi that I didn't think about how it affected you or how it might have pushed you away."
Jungkook felt a sense of relief wash over him as they spoke openly. "So, what do you think? Should we just... start over? Like, be friends for real this time?"
Jimin's face lit up with enthusiasm. "I'd love that! No more misunderstanding or jealousy. Just us getting to know each other better. We could have a lot of fun—like tonight!"
Jungkook grinned, feeling a warmth spread through him. "Yeah, definitely. Let's make some new memories, starting now."
This was just the first step in Jimin's plan to get Jungkook to eventually fall for him.
"I'm glad we talked that out... Do you wanna go back down?" Jimin asked.
"Sure." Jungkook said with a smile before he opened the door for Jimin.
As they stepped back into the vibrant atmosphere of the party, Jungkook felt a twinge of uncertainty. Jimin's energy was infectious, but he was still grappling with the complicated feelings swirling in his chest.
"Hey, I think I'm going to grab a drink," Jungkook said, trying to shake off the tension. "I'll catch up with you later?"
"Sure! I'll find Hoseok!" Jimin replied with a wave, disappearing into the crowd.
Jungkook made his way to the drinks, but as he turned around, he caught sight of Yoongi dancing with Namjoon. A knot tightened in his stomach. The sight of them together, laughing and moving in sync, sent a surge of jealousy rushing through him. It was too much.
Without thinking, Jungkook marched over, intent on making his presence known. "Yoongi—!" he called out, his voice cutting through the music.
Yoongi turned, his eyes widening in surprise as he blushed, clearly caught off guard. He stumbled slightly as Jungkook moved behind him, their bodies almost brushing against each other.
"Really? Trying to fucking make me jealous?" Jungkook asked, his tone low and teasing, but there was an edge of seriousness in his voice.
Yoongi gulped, a hint of mischief in his eyes. "Maybe..."
Jungkook's eyebrows knitted together in frustration, but a smirk danced on his lips. "Maybe?"
"I just wanted to see what you'd do... if someone else were to come up to me," Yoongi admitted, a playful glint shining in his gaze.
Jungkook's smirk widened, even as his heart raced. "You think you know me that well, huh?" he challenged, stepping closer, the heat between them palpable. "You really want to test me like this?"
Namjoon, sensing the shift in energy, stepped back, a knowing smile on his face as he watched the two of them. "I think I'll let you two sort this out," he said, a teasing lilt in his voice as he moved away.
Now it was just Jungkook and Yoongi, the music swirling around them as the world faded into a blur. Jungkook leaned in slightly, lowering his voice. "You had to know I'd react. What were you thinking?"
Yoongi chuckled softly, his eyes sparkling with mischief. "Honestly? I wanted to see if you cared."
Jungkook felt his heart race at the admission. "Well, you got your answer," he said, his voice dropping lower.
"Yes..." Yoongi said.
Jungkook's eyebrows knitted together in frustration, but a smirk on his lips. "And what's was the dance moves? Did you really have to dance on him like that?" Jungkook asked, trying to keep his tone light even though he was jealous.
"I was just having fun." Yoongi shot back, his smirk widening. "Maybe I want to see who else was watching."
Jungkook's stomach tightened at that. "You're not seriously considering—"
"Relax, Kook. I'm just having fun, teasing you. No need to get all worked up," Yoongi said, leaning back against Jungkook, exuding confidence.
"Fun sure looks different when you're throwing your hips around like that," Jungkook replied, trying to keep his tone playful but unable to hide the edge of annoyance.
Yoongi shrugged, a glint in his eye. "It's just a dance. You know how it is."
"Right, just a dance," Jungkook echoed, his hands slowly feeling Yoongi up. "But you know I'm here, right? You don't have to act like you're on your own."
"Maybe I wanted to see how you react," Yoongi said, his voice dropping slightly, teasingly, as he grind on him, making Jungkook's heart race.
Jungkook felt the urge to attack his neck, drag him into a bedroom and have his way with him. "You think this is funny?"
"Maybe. Or maybe I just enjoy getting a rise out of you," Yoongi replied, his expression playful but with an underlying sincerity that Jungkook couldn't ignore.
Jungkook took a deep breath, a smirk growing on his lips. "Just don't forget I'm not as easy to play with as you think."
"Good," Yoongi said, his eyes sparkling with mischief. "I wouldn't want it any other way." With a confident smirk, Yoongi faced Jungkook and licked his lips, the challenge evident in his gaze before he tossed him his keys.
Jungkook glanced down at them before he watched as Yoongi walked away, Jungkook a beat behind him.
Jungkook unlocked the doors with a click as his heart raced. He slid into the driver's seat, adrenaline pumping through him. Yoongi settled in next to him, a playful glint still in his eyes.
"Wait, how many drinks have you had?" Yoongi asked, suddenly serious as he glanced over at Jungkook, his brow furrowing.
"Like two—" Jungkook replied, trying to downplay the effects of the alcohol swirling in his system.
"Okay, hurry up and go," Yoongi urged, a smirk creeping back on his face, clearly eager to escape the party atmosphere that had been filled with too much tension and too many distractions.
With a nod, Jungkook shifted the gear into drive, and they sped off, leaving the pulsating music and flashing lights behind them. The night air rushed in through the open windows, and the thrill of the moment mixed with the intoxicating scent of freedom and possibility.
As they cruised down the quiet streets, the silence between them was thick with anticipation. Jungkook's heart raced not just from the speed of the car but from the proximity of Yoongi beside him. He could feel the tension simmering beneath the surface, a heat that seemed to draw them closer together with each passing second.
