"What's wrong?" My mom asks as she comes into the living room as I'm laying on the couch.

"Why do you think something is wrong?" I ask as I give her a look.

"I could tell something was off yesterday but I didn't get the chance to ask before I had to leave for work." She says as she comes over, sitting next to me as I sit up, moving so I'm right next to her.

"I'm going to Madrid tomorrow." I admit as she nods slightly.

"Okay, why?" She questions as I shrug.

"Because I feel like I need to make amends with Jude, and with dad I guess." I say as she wraps her arm around my shoulder.

"Dar told me what happened, and I think there's something for you to understand," she begins as I put my head against her shoulder, "he was hurting and in the process he hurt you, I'm not making excuses for him because you're my daughter and I'll always choose you, but that's what happened."

"I don't know if I can keep going back and forth with him though, it's absolutely draining." I whisper as she nods.

"And if that's what happens, you have to be prepared to move on no matter how much it hurts, so if you need to cut him off, do it." She says quietly as she rubs my shoulder, "no matter how deep your relationship with him goes, you can't expect it to be one sided all the time."

"That's going to be an awkward talk then." I mumble as she chuckles.

"Yeah I know, but you can't let it continue to build up. It's like the divorce with your dad, we got the divorce because it no longer served a purpose, even though we were married for 15 years and our connection ran deep, it's what needed to be done." She says as I nod.

"I love you." I say quietly as she kisses the side of my head.

"I want what's best for you, and the only one who knows what that is, is you."

"I know." I whisper.

"Is Pedri coming over tonight, I can cook dinner unless I get called in but I don't think I will be." She asks as I sit up fully.

"He is, but you should let us cook, you should go out and do something so you're not stuck at home." I say as she gives me a soft smile.

"Okay, thank you honey." She adds as I lean over, giving her a hug as she rubs my back, "whatever decision you make is the right one." She adds as I nod.

"I'll remember that." I say as she gets up, going down the hallway to her room.

I sit there for a second while I think before my phone buzzes.

Pedri
