Jungkook gulped and remained silent, focusing on his meal. Across from him, Taehyung sat scrolling through his phone when a call came in. He immediately rejected it, his face twisting in frustration.
"Who is this fcking bastard?" he muttered under his breath.
Jungkook noticed the irritated expression, but before he could ask, Taehyung received another call. He answered it, and the younger immediately fell quiet.
"Yes, Jimin?" Taehyung spoke into the phone.
"Is everything okay? You left in the middle of work," Jimin's concerned voice came through, clearly worried about him.
"Yeah, Jimin, everything is fine. Don’t worry. I just needed some groceries, so I left early today. By the way, did the boss say anything?" Taehyung’s voice held a slight nervousness, as if he feared the response. He wasn’t sure if it was because of his boss or something else.
Jimin, sounding relaxed, replied, "No, he didn’t. He hasn’t been scolding the staff these days. I don’t know what’s gotten into that hottie all of a sudden." He chuckled lightly.
Taehyung sighed in relief, his shoulders relaxing. "Okay, bye," he said, and hung up the phone.
He had a sudden feeling that someone was watching him. Turning towards the direction, he found Jungkook staring at him, his gaze unwavering.
Taehyung looked at him in confusion. "Do you want something?" he asked. Getting up, he took a bowl in hand. "You want more?" He started to prepare more food, but Jungkook quickly stopped him.
"I'll take it myself. You sit," Jungkook insisted.
Taehyung shook his head. "No, I have to go and freshen up."
Jungkook nodded and replied calmly, "You can go then."
"But you’re eating—"
"Okay, Nonna is here. If I need anything, I’ll ask her," Jungkook said with a soft smile.
Taehyung stared at him for a moment before nodding. He then walked off to freshen up, leaving Jungkook
Jungkook stared at the elder with a small smile, feeling warmth when Taehyung listened to him.Taehyung entered the room, quickly freshened up, and sat on the bed, scrolling through his phone. He saw the same unknown number calling again, but he ignored it once more.
Suddenly, a loud thunderclap echoed through the air. Taehyung flinched, his body tensing before he calmed himself down. Looking down at his stomach, he rested his palm there softly.
"I'm sorry, baby, but eomma is afraid of thunderstorms," he murmured quietly to himself before glancing towards the balcony. Rising from the bed, he walked towards it.
Meanwhile, Jungkook stood outside the room, holding a tray of food. He had learned that Taehyung had gone straight to his school earlier, leaving no time to eat. Jungkook had asked the maids if Taehyung had eaten, and they had told him that he hadn’t. The younger couldn’t let the elder skip his meal, especially when he needed it the most.
Taking a deep breath, Jungkook knocked gently on the door but received no response. He knocked again, this time a little louder, but still no answer. Confused, he gently pushed the door open, only to find the room empty.
Panic rose in him for a moment, but before he could step out and search, he heard voices coming from a specific direction.
He turned and slowly made his way to the source of the sound. Removing the white curtains that blocked the view, he peered outside and saw Taehyung standing by the balcony, his hands outstretched to catch the raindrops, his face lit with a serene smile.
