Ch26 Tommy gets burn/Nikki's birthday

Jasmine- Once the school year started after Labor Day and the day Katrina hit, I went back to teaching. I was now teaching the music and drama class finally for the first and second graders. Tommy called every other night to talk to me and Aphrodite before she went to bed. After New Orleans I felt he didn't like the anal sex but then he told me he loved it. "It's Vince honey. There's been an accident and they are taking Tommy to the hospital."

"Oh god what? Is he ok." I said feeling like my heart almost stopped for a second.

"What are you doing Vin? Give me that cell phone." I heard Nikki say in the background. "Who is this?" He asked now on the phone.

"It's Jasmine. What 'appended to Tommy?"

"You called Jasmine. Are you insane? Tommy said he was fine man. I can't believe you took his cell and called Jasmine. He's ok honey he just got a little burnt."

"What?" I said starting to get real upset now. "What do you mean he got burnt? How can he be ok?"

"Calm down Jasmine. Damn it Vince. He burnt his legs and arms during his solo its nothing major babe. We just sent him to the hospital to make sure he was ok. How about I tell him to call you later?"

"How bad is he burnt?"

"Uh Vince I'm going to beat you with your own cane. Look we don't know right now but before the paramedics took him he said he was ok just a few burnt hairs but we didn't want to take chances."

"Ok tell him to call me when he gets out of the hospital."

"I will." He hung up and I sat there on the bed. I heard Pandora crying so I got up. I changed her and got her to fall back to sleep. When I went back to bed the phone rang again. I picked it up.

"Hey baby."

"Oh god Tommy are you ok?"

"I'm fine baby. I'm sorry Vince called you like that. It's nothing major. I slipped and got 2nd and 1st degree burns on my legs and arms. My eyebrows are singed a little and they bandaged me up. I feel like Frankenstein meets the mummy. Pan still getting up in the middle of the night?"

"Uh. I'm sorry Vince called you. I'm fine. I've had worst accidents. You know me I take a licking and keep ticking."

"What kind of accidents 'ave you had?"

"Mm let's see. Flipped my bike once five times and walked away with cuts and bruises. Had tons of broken noses. Fell off the drum kit from a high height into the middle of a crowd. Ended up taking some stitches in my head for that one."

"Yeah we all know I had a hard head but we never thought it meant literally. I have tomorrow off so I promise to take it easy and then I'll be home in three days after that. If it will make you feel better I'll send you a picture to prove I'm fine."

"Ok. Tommy what did yer da say to you before he died?"

He was quit. "Why do you ask?"

"What did he say to you?"

"He told me you really loved me but was scared to show it. He also said dat we balance each other out because we're both Libra's."

So he sent me a picture he put on his website and he was right he looked like a cross between Frankenstein and the mummy. I believe he had 3rd degree burns on his legs though. He looked kind of funny with the half burn eyebrows.

When he came home three days later, I rubbed him down with some cream. He was pretty upset with Vince for calling me but I told him about the dream I had about the fire. He just kissed me with a big smile saying now I knew how he felt. I made sure he took his time to heal. It was hard to do that so when he did his DJing I didn't say anything to him.

At first, he thought I would be mad at him. I kissed him and went down on him. I looked around and didn't see Donna. His kids were there and the room was filled with stuff for him. An hour later they finally came back with Nikki. He looked like he had been crying. "I'm sorry. I'm just so overwhelmed everyone came all the way out here for my birthday."

"I'm here on behalf of your wife. She told me to tell you that she wished she could get out here for your birthday, but you know she's working." Some guy said. I don't know who he is or was but he gave a box to Nikki. Nikki just stood there holding it looking upset.

"I really want to thank you guys for this, but I'd really just love to spend the day with my kids if you don't mind."

"Sure bro. Call me if you need to talk man. I'm always here for you." Tommy said hugging Nikki. I walked up to Nikki and looked at him. We stared at each other for a while.

"Thanks for coming Jasmine. It really means a lot."

"Everything will work out Nikki." I said softly in his ear when I hugged him. It was the first time we hugged in years. I kissed him on the check.

"Thanks." Tommy put his arm around me and we went to our room.

"What was dat about?" I said.

"I don't know but something has been going on between him and Donna since September. Nikki's a very private person when it comes to his love life." Tommy pulled me to him. "He'll be ok. Remember we're not councilors. We can listen and be there for them but that's it. Now I seem to need a lesson in acting." I put my arms around his neck.

"Yes, you do." We kissed and he knocked me down on the bed making me laugh. I really didn't want to be loud because our room was near Nikki's, but I couldn't help it. With Tommy he has a way of just bring things out of me. The next morning, I seen Nikki standing on our balcony. I sat up and put my robe on and went out to him. I put my hand on his shoulder. "Nikki how..." He pushed me hard into the room.

"Don't touch me ever." I fell in the room hitting the table. Tommy jumped up.

"Jasmine are you ok?" Tommy helped me up. "What happened?" I seen Nikki disappear.

I looked at Tommy and said, "Silly me tripped over this stupid robe." Tommy raised his eyebrows up.

"What were you doing up so early?"

"I was going to surprise you with..." There was a knock on the door. "Room service. So get back in bed Mr."

He laughed and kissed me. "Your too much baby." He got back in bed and I pulled myself together even though my back hurt a little now. I knew there was something wrong with Nikki. I had a funny feeling he fell off the wagon again. Anyway I opened the door and Nikki was standing there with a cart full of food.

"Someone order room service." He said and I moved so he could roll the cart in.

"Dude your up early."

"Yeah. You know how kids are. I figured from all the noise I heard last night you would need a big breakfast. Can I have a moment with Jasmine?" I looked at Tommy and he waved his hand at me. I stepped outside with Nikki. "I didn't mean to push you so hard. Uh I'm just..." I hugged him.

"It's ok Nikki. No matter what 'appends you'll always be loved." He held me a bit.

"Sometimes I wish I would of gave you a chance. T-bone is a lucky guy even if you guys never get married." He pulled back from me. "Don't ever get married it will ruin everything."

"No. Not yet I haven't but believe me I'm tempted. Don't worry about me you go eat with T it's the least I could do to make up for pushing you. Oh and if you can sweet talk Tommy into taking you downtown Sydney there's some really great romantic spots there."

"Thanks, I will." I went back in the room and Tommy was standing by the door with his arms crossed. He almost scared me, but I seen him out of the corner of my eye.
