EP 9

It was noon by the time Joong woke up. He could see Pond at the dining table while Phuwin was preparing coffee. Joong thanked him for the cup of coffee as he took the food that First had apparently bought before he had business to attend to. P'Khaotung had followed him out. Joong felt a little akward with Pond and Phuwin. He had never been left alone with them. After yesterday's revelation he still had no idea what to think.

"Erm... How is Dunk?" Joong started in order to break the awkward silence.

"Still sleeping. You'll probably only see him awake in the evening." Pond answered and they were back to their awkward silence.

"It seems like you have questions, khun Joong. Ask away." Joong had known that Phuwin was observant the moment he met him. He always felt that his eyes were tracking him as if he was Dunk's extra pair of eyes. When Dunk mentioned he was a 9 tailed fox, he then began to wonder if that was his nature. What more when Dunk introduced him as a guardian spirit.

Phuwin was right. He had questions, so many questions that he didn't know where to start asking.

What does he want to know most?

"How?... How did you even find Dunk? or decide to be with him?" He didn't quite know how to phrase his question, but he was curious. How does a vampire, a guardian spirit and a human get together? Both Pond and Phuwin chuckled at his question.

" I thought he would ask about what's it like being a vampire or a kitsune but he wonders how we got together. This is a first. Valid question though." Pond couldn't stop laughing.

"Give him a break, Pond... It does look kind of odd from his perspective. But we've known Dunk from his past life. We kept track of him, found him, took care of him until now." Joong began to understand a little better but yet not a whole lot.

"But why?" Pond and Phuwin looked towards each other at that question before they shrugged.

" Just feels odd without him. But he did save us back then, so it's kind of natural of us to want to pay him back in some way. We truly don't want a repeat of the past." Pond sighed. He could see the past flashed before his eyes before Phuwin's hand clasped his. He patted his hand.

"Are you... together?" Joong couldn't help but ask.

"Are we?" Pond asked as he kissed the back of Phuwin's hand.

"Shouldn't I ask you?" Phuwin rolled his eyes, absolutely reluctant to take Pond's bait. Pond chuckled.

"And Dunk? Does he has someone?" Joong quickly inserted the question, reluctant to see the way they fool around with each other. Both of them looked at him as they quietly sipped their coffee. Joong wondered if he was being too obvious with his sudden question.

" You would have to ask him. He's not attached to anyone... except us." Pond chuckled.

" It is a difficult line of work with odd hours. Difficult to meet the right people and would anyone in the right mind stay after they know what he does? Would you?" Phuwin raised his eyebrow, waiting for Joong to answer. Joong didn't answer it out loud but 1 answer resonated in his heart.

I would.

I'm scared but I would.

Joong was saved by the fact that a half awake Dunk walked out of the room. He saw how Phuwin's eyes immediately softens at the sight of him.

"Why are you awake?" He guides him to a chair.

"Do you want to go back to sleep or have coffee and breakfast?"

"coffee..." he mumbled. Dunk looked like an absolute child as he snuggles to Phuwin's side, while Pond got coffee for him. While a part of Joong understood that they brought Dunk up, the moment Pond gave him a sniff kiss before giving him his coffee made his eye twitched. He wanted to see Pond and Phuwin as Dunk's parental figures but he questioned their need for such skinship. He regretted not asking them what was the nature of their relationship with Dunk.

Dunk had downed his mug of coffee before eating the food placed in front of him. It doesn't look like his brain had come online yet. Phuwin checked on him from time to time to make sure he didn't choke on his food. It was only after his second mug of coffee that there was some recognition in his eyes.

"Sorry that you had to witness this, khun Joong." He blushed when he noticed Joong was there. Joong couldn't help but lament how cute he was in his mind. But he was saved from making a fool out of himself when P'First and P'Khaotung came home. Both of them were relieved to see Dunk up and well. 

"Sorry bout the scare, P'Fir, P'Khao. Dunk is fine." Dunk smiled when he noticed the look of relief in their eyes. 

" We should discuss since we're all here." Dunk started. 

"Khun Vegas was not the person behind all the death. He may be a demon lord but he was working for someone. It's most likely one of the four princes of hell. Who, we don't know. But any one of them is equally dangerous. What I'm most afraid of is the possibility that he is trying to complete a ritual"

"A ritual?" Khaotung was confused by what Dunk said.

" 2 deaths and a possible third. It would most likely be a ritual. A ritual by a prince of hell could only mean 1 thing... " While First agreed with Dunk's line of thinking, it really didn't sound good at all. 

" He's trying to bring hell on earth." As quiet as Dunk spoke, it was loud to their ears.

What do you think of the PPwD dynamic? PPwD rship is smth that will keep you guessing. But I've already given spoiler ahead of the series to not cause disappointment. how does it happen that way? It is only answered in later chapters... I roughly estimate that this series will take about 30-32 EPs.. just a rough estimate.
